Seed Programme

Will help to create and coordinate networks of researchers for the thematic areas of SMART-ER, with the objective of providing answers to regional challenges.

The aim

The SMART-ER supports the initiation, preparation and establishment of joint supervision agreements, namely �co-tutelle programmes of PhD students and �joint supervision under industrial doctorates involving different ECIU institutions.

Support is provided for the development of networks on the basis of a joint research and innovation plan, including, but not limited to, the submission of future collaborative proposals to other European funding programmes.

Travel & subsistence costs; consumables up to 10% of the total budget; training costs; conference fees; events organization

This call promotes high-quality research outputs within SMART-ER through the funding of inter-institutional and intersectoral research and innovation seed projects directly linked to the SDG11 challenges defined under ECIU University.

Eligible costs

Travel & subsistence costs; consumables; small equipment (max. 10% of the total budget); other goods and services; conference fees.

Online PhD

Training Programme

  • It will include skills in alignment with the EC Innovative Doctoral Training Principles (IDTP), the New Skills Agenda and the Modernisation Agenda and based on the challenge-based learning approach.

Open Science & Leadership Training Programme

  • This programme for SMART-ER researcher-leaders combines on-line interaction and traditional placed-based activities.
  • It will include the skills able to tackle the challenges of leading multidisciplinary research teams and networks of researchers.
  • Training will also be provided to upgrade researcher-leaders’ skills in preparing project proposals.
