  • Students access at 90 + cumulative credits; fully accepted into one or more majors.
    • Work around for students below the credit benchmark; however, seeking to participate in Commencement ceremony.

  • Students can confirm application, via MyU degree status

Staff FAQs

Diploma/degree name & Commencement RSVP

  • The student provided Degree/diploma name in MyU will populate in the Commencement RSVP and program
    • If no degree/diploma name is provided, the primary (legal) name is used

Request to change graduation term

  • Turn off gmail default account when students can’t access form
  • Each request is reviewed (APAS degree audit, progress, etc.)
    • No request is automatically accepted
  • Beginning March 3, 2021: If request is approved, no communication will be sent to students. Students are directed to view their MyU's Graduation Status page, https://z.umn.edu/myugradstatus

Awarding of degree & holds

  • In instances where a student has a hold that impacts the releasing of academic information (transcript, diploma), degrees are awarded as normal.
  • When students resolve their hold(s), a diploma will be printed and corresponding messages will be sent.
  • See the communications in the Student Service Center > Communication Center
