Welcome!
Welcome to Sustainability Science! I’m so glad to have each of you and am excited to get to know you all this year! Over the course of this year you will:
Materials
During this course, you will need the following materials:
Technology
Please bring your charged Chromebook every day! We will be using Google Classroom as our central information hub, where you can find your classwork, links to other sites, and announcements.
Cell Phones
All cell phones will be placed in the cell phone pocket at the front of the room at the beginning of class and remain there throughout class per school protocol. Airbuds/headphones must be put away before class starts. (See 8/19/24 Welcome Back message from Dr. Boynton for more information.)
Sustainability Science Google Classroom Codes
Students sign up for Google Classroom using the codes below:
D Period - pnebten
E Period - 6u7mhn3
Families are welcome to subscribe to their student’s Google Classroom to get updates daily or weekly but will not use the codes above.
Assessments/Instructional Strategies
We will be testing our learning using the following methods:
Please keep in mind that you may have work to do over the weekend or over break, so make sure you are using your agenda book/calendar to keep track of assignments!

Make-Up Work
If you are absent, you can find your work on Google Classroom by checking the agenda slides. For any copies of handouts that you missed, please print them off Google Classroom at home and check the absent bin upon your arrival back to class.
Please note that you are responsible for any and all work that you miss in class, including missed information and assignments. In other words, if you miss work, you need to make it up or you lose credit. For any planned absences, see me ahead of time.
Late Work
Work is expected to be completed on time in order for successful learning. Late work will be accepted within two school days of the due date at a reduced grade but will not be accepted afterwards.
For extenuating circumstances, please see your teacher.
Field Work / Field Journals
Students are expected to complete field work as a lab grade throughout the entire year. Students will choose their individual site at the beginning of the year and will continue to visit and monitor that site periodically for the remainder of the year, observing and noting the changes that occur.
Field journals will be provided at the beginning of the year. Students will want to dress accordingly for each field journal (comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, etc.).
Please note that if a student is absent during a field work day, they are expected to make up the field work when they return to school during their free time.
Extra Credit
Extra credit is offered to the class at the teacher’s discretion.
Remember: Extra credit is rare because your first objective is to complete your normal credit!
Extra Help
I am here for you! If you need extra help, don’t hesitate to ask!
Extra Help Times:
Please allow for at least 24 hours notice; I may not be able to stay after the same day you that you ask but will find a time that works for both of us.
Our Classroom, Our School
In our classroom, we adhere to Nashoba’s Portrait of a Graduate expectations (see image to the right).
Remember: Be your best self. Pave your path. Impact the world.
We will be looking at what the Portrait of a Graduate expectations look like in our classroom and creating guidelines for success together at the beginning of the year.
Teacher Contact Information
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you this year!
