The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-Hyderabad), offers a comprehensive 3-year full-time program culminating in an MS degree. Participants in the program are also awarded the prestigious title of Research Translation Fellow (RTF), along with a stipend to support their academic journey.

WHAT IS RTF PROGRAM ?

It’s a Fellowship that also earns you an MS degree the program offers a comprehensive academic structure, mirroring the Sponsored MS by Research (Industry MS Program Industry sponsored Masters (MS) by Research (part-time) ) route closely.

• Offers flexibility with part-time MS coursework.
• Work directly with a Translation Centre (like CDiTH).
• Gain hands-on research experience with real-world relevance.
• Fellowship work counts as professional experience (35 hrs/week).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
2. Strong technical background with deep understanding of system design and frameworks(e.g., Web Development, API Development, Full Stack, Cloud Ops, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, etc.)
3. End-to-end project engineering experience — from design to deployment.
4. Keen interest in emerging technologies, frameworks, and open-source tools.
5. Appreciation for research and interest in engaging with academic work.
6. Selection involves screening, assignment evaluation, and an interview with Centre and senior faculty.

Program structure & weekly rhythm

• 35 hrs/week: research translation work at one of the translation centres
• 15 hrs/week: coursework, scoping/mini projects, thesis work.
• Duration: ~3 years to complete MS (courses flexible in first 2 years; thesis runs throughout).
• Typical academic plan: 4 courses + scoping project + mini project(s) + thesis. Semester reviews control continuation.

CDiTH is a Healthcare Research Translation Center is focused on applying digital technologies to improve efficiency and affordability in healthcare delivery. IIIT Hyderabad has 5 such translation centers at present. Each center has its own domain of focus and mechanism for qualifying projects.
