The things of God can be a treasure to me
The things of God can be a treasure to me
SCRIPTURE
2 I have much treasure in this city for you, for the benefit of Zion, and many people in this city, whom I will gather out in due time for the benefit of Zion, through your instrumentality.
3 Therefore, it is expedient that you should form acquaintance with men in this city, as you shall be led, and as it shall be given you.
10 For there are more treasures than one for you in this city.
- Doctrine and Covenants 111:2-3, 10
The things of God can be a treasure to me
Michael John U. Teh
Of the Seventy
What are some treasures in heaven that we can lay up for ourselves? For starters, it will be well for us to acquire the Christlike attributes of faith, hope, humility, and charity…Second, we need to put more quality time and effort into strengthening family relationships. After all, “the family is ordained of God. It is the most important unit in time and in eternity.”
Third, serving others is a hallmark of a true follower of Christ. He said, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Fourth, understanding the doctrine of Christ and strengthening our testimony is a labor that will bring real joy and satisfaction. We need to consistently study the words of Christ as found in the scriptures and the words of living prophets.”
…Let us always remember the words of the Savior: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
- Elder Michael John U. Teh, “Where Your Treasure Is,”General Conference, April 2014
I Am a Child of God(Children’s Songbook #2)
MUSIC
1. I am a child of God,
And he has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home
With parents kind and dear.
2. I am a child of God,
And so my needs are great;
Help me to understand his words
Before it grows too late.
3. I am a child of God.
Rich blessings are in store;
If I but learn to do his will,
I’ll live with him once more.
4. I am a child of God.
His promises are sure;
Celestial glory shall be mine
If I can but endure.

The things of God can be a treasure to me
2:40
The Lord can “order all things for [our] good.”
The Lord can “order all things for [our] good.”
SCRIPTURE
10 For there are more treasures than one for you in this city.
11 Therefore, be ye as wise as serpents and yet without sin; and I will order all things for your good, as fast as ye are able to receive them. Amen.
- Doctrine and Covenants 111:10-11
The Lord can “order all things for [our] good.”
Susan W. Tanner
Former Young Women General President
This stunning promise from the Lord that all things shall work together for our good is repeated many times in the scriptures, particularly to people or prophets who are suffering through the trials of their own life stories. I sense that this promise comes from a tender, caring Father who desires to bless us and give us reason to hope through our earthly journey. Knowing that eventually all things will work together for our good will help us endure affliction like the faithful people from the scriptures who knew of His promises and trusted in them…We too can embrace this promise.
Sometimes we see immediate fulfillment of the promise. Other times we plead for years before we see the desired promises fulfilled…as we search, pray, and believe, we will often recognize things working together for our good in this life…Do we recognize the fulfilling of promises in our lives? As the Savior asked, “Having eyes, see ye not?”. Do we have eyes to see?
- Sister Susan W. Tanner, “All Things Shall Work Together For Your Good,”General Conference, April 2004
Come, Come Ye Saints(Hymn Book #30)
MUSIC
1. Come, come, ye Saints, no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day.
’Tis better far for us to strive
Our useless cares from us to drive;
Do this, and joy your hearts will swell—
All is well! All is well!
2. Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?
’Tis not so; all is right.
Why should we think to earn a great reward
If we now shun the fight?
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take.
Our God will never us forsake;
And soon we’ll have this tale to tell—
All is well! All is well!
3. We’ll find the place which God for us prepared,
Far away in the West,
Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the Saints will be blessed.
We’ll make the air with music ring,
Shout praises to our God and King;
Above the rest these words we’ll tell—
All is well! All is well!
4. And should we die before our journey’s through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!
But if our lives are spared again
To see the Saints their rest obtain,
Oh, how we’ll make this chorus swell—
All is well! All is well!

3:02
The Lord will lead those who humbly seek His will
The Lord will lead those who humbly seek His will
SCRIPTURE
10 Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.
19 Wherefore, whithersoever they shall send you, go ye, and I will be with you; and in whatsoever place ye shall proclaim my name an effectual door shall be opened unto you, that they may receive my word.
21 And again, I say unto you, that whosoever ye shall send in my name, by the voice of your brethren, the Twelve, duly recommended and authorized by you, shall have power to open the door of my kingdom unto any nation whithersoever ye shall send them—
22 Inasmuch as they shall humble themselves before me, and abide in my word, and hearken to the voice of my Spirit.
- Doctrine and Covenants 112:10,19, 21-22
The Lord will lead those who humbly seek His will
Quentin L. Cook
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
It is important to understand the magnitude of Christ’s humility, righteousness, character, and intelligence, as exemplified in the scriptures. It is foolish to underestimate the necessity of continuously striving for these Christlike qualities and attributes on a day-by-day basis, particularly humility.
…The goal of honoring the Lord and submitting ourselves to His will is not as valued in today’s society as it has been in the past…there is an increased emphasis on pride, self-aggrandizement, and so-called “authenticity,” which sometimes leads to a lack of true humility…The scriptures advocate a different approach. They suggest that we should be true disciples of Jesus Christ. This entails establishing a powerful feeling of accountability to God and a humble approach to life.
- Elder Quentin L. Cook, “The Eternal Everyday,”General Conference, October 2017
Be Thou Humble(Hymn Book #130)
MUSIC
1. Be thou humble in thy weakness, and the Lord thy God shall lead thee,
Shall lead thee by the hand and give thee answer to thy prayers.
Be thou humble in thy pleading, and the Lord thy God shall bless thee,
Shall bless thee with a sweet and calm assurance that he cares.
2. Be thou humble in thy calling, and the Lord thy God shall teach thee
To serve his children gladly with a pure and gentle love.
Be thou humble in thy longing, and the Lord thy God shall take thee,
Shall take thee home at last to ever dwell with him above.

3:42
Jesus wants me to love everyone
Jesus wants me to love everyone
SCRIPTURE
11 I know thy heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren. Be not partial towards them in love above many others, but let thy love be for them as for thyself; and let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name.
- Doctrine and Covenants 112:11
Jesus wants me to love everyone
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The scriptures reveal that the more we love God and His children, the happier we become. The love Jesus spoke about, however, isn’t a gift-card, throwaway, move-on-to-other-things love. It isn’t a love that is spoken of and then forgotten. It is not a “let me know if there is anything I can do” sort of love.
The love God speaks of is the kind that enters our hearts when we awake in the morning, stays with us throughout the day, and swells in our hearts as we give voice to our prayers of gratitude at evening’s end. This is the inexpressible love Heavenly Father has for us.
It is this endless compassion that allows us to more clearly see others for who they are. Through the lens of pure love, we see immortal beings of infinite potential and worth and beloved sons and daughters of Almighty God. Once we see through that lens, we cannot discount, disregard, or discriminate against anyone.
- Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Believe, Love, Do,”General Conference, October 2018

Those who are truly converted come to know Jesus Christ
Those who are truly converted come to know Jesus Christ
SCRIPTURE
13 And after their temptations, and much tribulation, behold, I, the Lord, will feel after them, and if they harden not their hearts, and stiffen not their necks against me, they shall be converted, and I will heal them.
14 Now, I say unto you, and what I say unto you, I say unto all the Twelve: Arise and gird up your loins, take up your cross, follow me, and feed my sheep.
26 First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me...
28 But purify your hearts before me; and then go ye into all the world, and preach my gospel unto every creature who has not received it;
- Doctrine and Covenants 112:13-14,26,28
Those who are truly converted come to know Jesus Christ
Bonnie L. Oscarson
Former Young Women General President
True conversion is more than merely having a knowledge of gospel principles and implies even more than just having a testimony of those principles. It is possible to have a testimony of the gospel without living it. Being truly converted means we are acting upon what we believe and allowing it to create “a mighty change in us, or in our hearts.” In the booklet True to the Faith, we learn that “conversion is a process, not an event. You become converted as a result of … righteous efforts to follow the Savior.” It takes time, effort, and work.
…Conversion takes place as we are diligent about saying our prayers, studying our scriptures, attending church, and being worthy to participate in temple ordinances. Conversion comes as we act upon the righteous principles we learn in our homes and in the classroom. Conversion comes as we live pure and virtuous lives and enjoy the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Conversion comes as we understand the Atonement of Jesus Christ, acknowledge Him as our Savior and Redeemer, and allow the Atonement to take effect in our lives.
- Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, “Be Ye Converted,” General Conference, October 2013
I Want to Live the Gospel(Children’s Songbook #148)
MUSIC
1. I want to live the gospel,
To know that its teachings are true,
To follow the plan of my Savior
And live as he wants me to do.
2. I want to live the gospel,
To know I am heard when I pray,
To know that I will be happy
Because I have learned to obey.
Chorus:
I will try in all I do and say
To live the gospel more each day.
I will try in all I do and say
To live the gospel more each day.

2:00
Joseph Smith was “a servant in the hands of Christ.”
Joseph Smith was “a servant in the hands of Christ.”
SCRIPTURE
3 What is the rod spoken of in the first verse of the 11th chapter of Isaiah, that should come of the Stem of Jesse?
4 Behold, thus saith the Lord: It is a servant in the hands of Christ, who is partly a descendant of Jesse as well as of Ephraim, or of the house of Joseph, on whom there is laid much power.
5 What is the root of Jesse spoken of in the 10th verse of the 11th chapter?
6 Behold, thus saith the Lord, it is a descendant of Jesse, as well as of Joseph, unto whom rightly belongs the priesthood, and the keys of the kingdom, for an ensign, and for the gathering of my people in the last days.
- Doctrine and Covenants 113:3-6
Joseph Smith was “a servant in the hands of Christ.”
Neil L. Andersen
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration. His spiritual work began with the appearance of the Father and the Son, followed by numerous heavenly visitations. He was the instrument in God’s hands in bringing forth sacred scripture, lost doctrine, and the restoration of the priesthood. The importance of Joseph’s work requires more than intellectual consideration; it requires that we, like Joseph, “ask of God.” Spiritual questions deserve spiritual answers from God.
…A sincere inquirer should see the spreading of the restored gospel as the fruit of the Lord’s work through the Prophet…Each believer needs a spiritual confirmation of the divine mission and character of the Prophet Joseph Smith. This is true for every generation.
- Elder Neil L. Andersen, “Joseph Smith,”General Conference, October 2014
Praise to the Man(Hymn Book #27)
MUSIC
1. Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
2. Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.
3. Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
4. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know "Brother Joseph" again.
Text: William W. Phelps, 1792-1872
Music: Scottish folk song
Chorus:
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
