What is Schoola?

- Founded by Stacey Boyd in 2012 to help funds schools locally after seeing the financial struggles of schools in her Boston Community.

- Over the years Schoola has grown to be 3000 schools strong has expanded to include drives for clothes, art equipment, books, and instruments.

How Does It Work?

- Schoola helps generate money for schools and increase sales for community businesses through online coupons.

- A coupon is made when a business and a school representative negotiate on the value of a coupon and how much percentage goes to the school and the business. Schoola takes 15% for managing the entire 5 day fundraiser and hosting it on their site.

- There is no limits or restrictions for how much goes to the school, it could be anyware from 10% to 50% and above.

- The money is then transmitted at the end of the 5 days with the EIN numbers of the school and the business.

What Was My Experience With Schoola?

- While the representatives from Schoola were very cooperative and helpful, the real problem to my mission this year to help fund our school was our own community.

- Half the businesses I went to seemed uninterested, had no idea, and even mixed us up for Alameda High School until I showed them my wristband.

- Some of the businesses I went to include Tucker’s Ice Cream, Tetsu Ramen, Quicklies, See Spot Run, Books Inc. and FruttiYogi.

Why Do I Believe Schoola Failed?

- ACLC is a unique school with a unique mission.

- No other school is like us or has such a commitment and loyalty to its community,

- Perhaps it was a bit too much for our community to manage since they’re not used to taking such a big role in our local schools.

There Is Hope!

- Next year my brother, Ryan, is coming here next year to hopefully start his 6 years of fun here at ACLC.

- Luckily I may have broken the ice for a few of the businesses and have definitley let them know we’re here and we’re not leaving anytime soon.

- It’s not just my brother, anyone who has an interest in helping ACLC stay afloat and fund itself with the community it treasures so much is welcome to pick up Schoola.
