Constitution Day September 17

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787.

Labor Day September 1

Many celebrate this day as the official end of summer, but it was founded to celebrate the American worker, and the great work ethic of the American People.

Patriot Day September 11

This day is set aside to remember all those who died in the September 11th attacks of 2001.

Grandparents Day September 7

This day is was set aside, beginning in 1978, as a day to honor grandparents and to appreciate them for the happiness and wisdom they share with us!

What is the International International Day of Peace? September 21

This is a day to celebrate peace and non-violence throughout the world. The United Nations General Assembly started this day in 1981 as a day to foster the ideals of peace. The theme for the 2022 International Day of Peace is, "End Racism. Build Peace."

What is International Day of Sign Languages? September 23

This day is set aside to encourage people to learn and use sign language to assist the deaf community. The theme for 2022 is "Sign Languages Unite Us!"

Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month is set aside to raise awareness of the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that can happen at any time. This is a great time to check on emergency supplies, and to talk about how to prepare for emergency situations.

What is the Autumnal Equinox? September 22

The earth is tilted on its axis. This means that the sun illuminates the northern and southern hemisphere more depending on where the Earth is along its orbit. At two points during the year, the sun will illuminate the northern and southern hemispheres equally. These are known as equinoxes.The autumnal equinox marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.
