LEARNING TARGET
Students will envision tasks for their MINI-Capstone project by completing a Topic Proposal form and Group Division of Labor contract.
Topic Proposal
01
Use the next several slides to learn more about the formal Topic Proposal that is submitted to Advisors for Capstone projects
The Topic Proposal is a formal document that is used to ‘propose’ the plan for your Capstone Project.
This form is turned in to your Advisor for approval. The MINI-Capstone walks you through this process so you understand what the proposal entails.
What is a Topic Proposal?
Filling out the Topic Proposal
The top portion of the proposal allows for you to explain your project and it’s product, as well as your Driving Question, how the project will challenge you, and the steps you will take to complete the project.
Topic Proposal continued…
You will also explain who your Professional Consultant is (for the MINI-Capstone, you will choose someone at the school but for your ‘real’ Capstone the PC is expected to be someone in the community). For MINI-Capstone, you will work in a group (this is a choice for the ‘real’ Capstone), and you will also talk about how it fits with your career/pathway.
OPTIONAL
Advisor Approval
The bottom portion of the Topic Proposal form is for the Advisor to assess your proposal and either approve it, approve it with modifications, or not approve it. This form is the same one used for the ‘real’ Capstones so you learn what’s expected!

HOMEWORK
If you don’t complete the Topic Proposal or Division of Labor Contract, they will become homework for your group.
Make plans to work on it outside of class with one another so that when we meet next week you are ready to move on.
This MINI-Capstone is fast-paced, do not get behind, and make sure you have contact information for each of your group members so you can tackle work in a timely manner!
