What is NextGen STEM?

Advisor: Ms. Sharp

  • An outreach club focused on connecting students of all levels to STEM.
  • Directed to middle and elementary schools
  • Required to attend one event every semester
  • Prospective activities and schools can be proposed by members.
  • Failure to follow the rules will result in a written notification and possible suspension.

Maintaining Membership

  • Members will be requested to maintain a minimum of a C average in each of their classes for the semester.
  • Club members are also required to maintain regular attendance at club meetings and events.
  • Failure to notify officers or the faculty advisor of two or more absences from pre-planned meetings or scheduled events (for which the student has signed up) will result in the student being placed on probation and receiving a written notification.
  • Fulfill 3 hour requirement (lower due to current circumstances)

Covid-19 Plans

  • All volunteering events will be held completely virtual.
    • The rule applies for this semester and for the most part, next semester.
  • Examples may include:
    • Virtual experiments
    • Online mentoring
    • Digital presenting
    • Aiding with the management of clubs
  • Last year, Next-Gen members volunteered at Reedy Creek
    • Mentors of Science Olympiad events
    • This year, we plan on carrying the mentoring sessions online

Volunteer Hours Challenge!

  • Get two new members to join our club
    • With each member, receive 10 minutes of volunteer minutes
    • A cap of 3 members
    • Each member should email us stating:
      • Their name
      • The person who recommended NextGen STEM
