APA Style: A Review

  • Most commonly used style in the social sciences and hard sciences
    • This remains true in university and in professional careers
  • Includes all the rules for citing information and formatting an essay/academic papers
  • For your IB assessments, you are not required to use APA citations, however it is helpful to focus on one kind of citation style.
    • Most other styles of citation (MLA, Chicago, etc.) are basically the same, just with minor formatting differences.

Final Tips:

  • If you use a citation generator site, ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CITATIONS
    • Since double checking is so necessary, I personally find it easier to just go off of the Purdue OWL website to begin with.

  • Remember to inverse indent reference citations

  • Remember to alphabetize your reference page
