Project delivery schedule

  • At least 10 weeks of work to deliver the project 28 June - 8 September (not including any delays and assuming full day work)
  • 6 weeks of holidays (from 28th June at noon until 11th of August)
  • Staff return to school on 12th of August (PD)
  • Students return to school on 14th of August

Key considerations:

  • Maintain access to the school environment and resources while ensuring the safety of students and staff
  • Maintain access to learning while minimising the impact of carried out work on students’ wellbeing and engagement

Menu of options

  1. Building work carried out only after 2.45 pm with continued access to all corridors, reception and hall (further delay in delivering the project).
  2. Both corridors will be blocked off with temporary entrances from the playground and side door; temporary reception in the new meeting room and no access to the hall.
  3. Temporarily relocate at least one primary class to the library (it may also be noisy as work will be carried out in rooms below the library) and PT room
  4. Building work will start after 1 pm to allow some quiet time in the morning (consulted with the project team and will support delivery of the project on time ).
  5. Noisy building work only after 2.45 pm (potentially not possible to achieve and will delay delivery of the project)
  6. Online learning for all students until the 9th of September;
  7. Online learning for primary classes until the 9th of September (potentially those classes will be most impacted by the building work)
  8. Half day at school and distance learning in the afternoon
  9. Off-site learning

Safety

  • Both corridors will be blocked off to separate areas accessed by students from the building site/ labourers (impact on access to several learning spaces).
  • Temporary use of the side door and fire door by Emerald class.
  • Temporary reception in the new meeting room.
  • Arrange temporary storage for PE resources and liaise with KGV/KJS regarding alternative PE spaces.

Learning and wellbeing

  • Half day at school (until 1pm) - 4 lessons delivered face to face
  • Students go home at 1pm - lunch at home and one lesson delivered through distance learning
  • Noisy building work will start after 1pm to allow some quiet time in the morning and to minimise disruption and impact on students
