Regulatory Signs

• Tell you what you must do, or not do according to the law.
• You can be fined and receive points on your driving record, you are breaking the law.
• Signs are usually black and white vertical rectangles or squares.
• Signs could also be black, white and red
• Other signs are red and white .

Stop Sign

• Octagon shaped (8 sided) sign that means STOP.
• Slowing down or coasting through an intersection is illegal.
• You must come to a complete stop.
• 4 Way Stop Sign means there are 4 stop signs at intersection.
• If 2 people arrive at the intersection at the same time. Driver on the left yields to the car on the right.

Except Right Turn

Yield �

• Yield signs are triangular in shape.
• When you see this sign you must slow down and check on coming traffic and pedestrians.
• You should only stop if necessary.

Railroad Crossing

• This sign is placed at a railroad crossing where the tracks meet the road.
• You should yield and be prepared to stop.

Do Not Enter/Wrong Way

• These signs work as a team.
• The Do Not Enter sign is posted at the beginning of a one-way street and ramps.
• Wrong Way sign is placed farther down the one-way street or ramp.

One Way

• This sign means traffic is allowed to move in the direction the sign is pointing.

Divided Highway

• This sign means the road you are on intersects with a divided highway. At the first roadway, you can only turn right, at the second roadway, you can only turn left.

No Truck, No Bicycles, and No Pedestrian Crossing

• Operators of truck, bicycles and pedestrians may not use roadways where these signs are posted.

This sign prohibits U-Turns. Do not make a complete turn to go in the opposite direction.

This sign indicates right turns are prohibited. Do not make right turns at this intersection

• This sign may be placed in areas where you may not pass other vehicles.
• This sign is usually accompanied with a No Passing Zone sign.

Lane Use Control Signs

• Lane Use Control Signs are placed at or near intersections. They show which maneuver(s) are permitted from that lane.

• This sign indicates traffic in left lane must turn left and adjoining lane may turn left or go straight.

• Center Lane Left Turn Only
• This sign indicates left turns only, and is not to be used for through traffic or passing

KEEP RIGHT

• These signs direct drivers to keep to the right of the traffic island or divider.

Speed Limit

• A Speed Limit sign indicates the maximum legal speed for the stretch of highway where it is posted.
• Your safety may depend upon driving slower than the posted speed under poor conditions.

No Turning

• You May not turn during the red light cycle at an intersection where one of these signs is posted. You must wait for the signal to turn green.

Other Signs

• This sign indicated a left turn is permitted, but you must yield to on coming traffic.

• Although this sign is not black and white, it’s a Regulatory sign. It marks where is reserved for disabled people.
