Semester 2
Learning intentions
Semester 1
Learning Intentions
Geometría, posición y transformaciones
- Derive and use the rules and formulae relating to interior and exterior angles of polygons and those relating to transversals on parallel lines, triangles and quadrilaterals to calculate missing angles
- Develop construction skills with geometric instruments, making different angles, creating regular polygons and doing bearings in the context of maps and plans.
- Identify, describe and transform points and 2d shapes by combinations of reflections, translations and rotations, recognising congruence between the original and the image shape.
- Enlarge 2D shapes and develop understanding of center of enlargement and scale factor, in particular how it affects perimeter and area of squares and rectangles.
Geometría y medida
- Know, estimate and calculate through formulae the circumference, area of a circle and of compound 2D shapes made from rectangles, triangles and circles. knows and converts between very small or large units of length, mass and capacity.
- Explore Pythagoras’ theorem, and use it to satisfy given criteria in triangles in different context.
- Calculate through formulae the volume and surface area of cubes, cuboids, triangular prisms, pyramids and cylinders and identify plane symmetry of 3D shapes.
