ASL CLASS OF 2020

In the eyes of others ...

2 of 129

Sophie Abner

Sophie is never seen without a smile on her face. As a co-president of Math Club, she was always incredibly committed and enthusiastic, was incredibly kind and helpful to underclassman members and always prioritized fostering a positive, energetic environment. Always brings warmth and kindness to STEM at ASL. She always looks out for everyone, and ensures no one is feeling excluded or left out. Her laugh is warm and infectious, and will always make you grin a little.

3 of 129

Maya Ajami

Maya is someone who, whenever you are around, wants to hear how you are doing and discuss the latest events in both of your lives. She is fun to be around, curious and just a genuinely sweet person. I have never seen Maya without a smile. She is always down to try new things, and never fails to make everyone laugh. She also incredibly empathetic and can understand and connect with someone else's situation at all times.

4 of 129

Allegra Albanese

Allegra absolutely facilitates an interaction to the best of her ability. She is the last to judge and is open-minded to any friendship. It is clear that she values community. Allegra always makes those around her smile. Her creativity is unparalleled; a paintbrush in one hand, pen in the other, she can paint and write like no other. She radiates positivity and just makes everyone feel better and lighter. Her wit and feistiness make her so much fun to be around.

5 of 129

Dom Alberts

Dom is the powerhouse of the grade, in all facets. Being an extremely diversified and accomplished member of the class, he puts his all into everything he does, and builds everyone up around him as he does it. He has an incredible ability to form connections, go beneath the surface, care deeply about everyone, show a great deal of empathy, and be a friendly face to everyone around him. This is exemplified through him being a peer leader, as well as all of his other involvements at school.

6 of 129

Hend Al-Khater

Hend never brings attention to herself but just quietly gets things done and brings so much kindness and serenity to the classroom. In yearbook she creates the most incredible spreads with amazing detail and is always thinking of others by bringing sweets to celebrate our last class of the semester. In math class, I always feel lucky when I get to sit next to her because of how diligent she is with her work and she never shys away from chatting while we work.

7 of 129

Mia Badian

I have been friends with Mia for my whole time at ASL. She is drastically different than me, but she is someone that I have always been able to rely on. She is intelligent, especially emotionally and is someone that will uphold the strictest confidentiality if needed. She gives advice when she needs to and listens when it is what is necessary. She is that stable rock that everyone needs in their life. She always looks out for others, and is rarely seen without a smile.

8 of 129

Maya Bajpai

On both StuCo and in leading Peer Tutoring, Maya was always helpful, sincere, and a genuinely friendly person to be around. She demonstrated her commitment to class unity and spirit during Spirit Week in organizing the senior hoodies; she truly loves and values our class and all of the members of it. Maya is almost like a mother to our senior class. She cares for everyone and always makes sure no one is left out or excluded. She dedicates so much time and effort into making sure our grade is united and we love her so much for it! She has such a warm heart, and is an amazing person. Maya is definitely going places.

9 of 129

Alice Bake

Alice always brings a great positivity and attitude to everything we do. As a teammate, she is incredibly supportive and is always in your corner. I’ve been incredibly lucky to get to know her these past four years, and it’s clear to me that the world needs more Alice Bakes. She is so sweet, and cares so much for everyone around her. She always works so hard and puts her 100% effort into everything she does. Her smile lights up every room.

10 of 129

Ludovico

Barratieri di San Pietro

Ludo is one of the kindest and funniest people I have ever met. He always makes me feel welcome; last year in our math class there was never a dull moment getting to work next to him. He is full of life and brings so much energy into any situation. He is fun and outgoing, and always has a positive attitude. When he walks into Bottom O, a classroom, or any gathering, life gets a little better. Our Senior class got a little better when he joined!

11 of 129

Jack Barnett

Throughout high school, whenever I’d see Jack in the halls, he’d stop and we’d have a quick chat. In every class I had with him, he always had a big fat grand smile on his face. He is super outgoing and friendly and I’m truly grateful to have had a classmate like him! His laughter is unmissable, and definitely gets you to crack a smile. He is an amazing friend, classmate, actor, and writer, and always approaches any situation with positivity and optimism.

12 of 129

Tiala Bassatne

Tiala is someone who I have always loved having around. She is a very good conversationalist and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She is always willing to share her experiences and give advice. Tiala is such a dynamic and interesting person, and always makes everyone feel welcome. She is hilarious, and definitely knows how to get everyone around her laughing. You probably will never ever meet another person like Tiala in your life. She doesn’t care what people think of her and that allows her to care about things that people normally wouldn't, and stick up for people that no one else is sticking up for. She is someone we can all count on to lead us through our lives with confidence, kindness and a little bit of attitude.

13 of 129

Tomas Belinky

Tomas is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He cares about his friends so much, but he's also the type of person who would be just as nice to someone he's meeting for the first time. Lots of people are well-liked because they just go along with what everyone else is doing, but Tomas has a whole unique set of interests and hobbies that he does because it's what he loves doing, and I think that people see how genuine he is and flock to that. He also manages to stand up for what his friends and his beliefs without making any enemies in the process. Tomas accidentally became friends with everyone in our grade because he just wouldn't be mean or exclusive, and this has allowed him to get close to so many people.

14 of 129

Daya Benami

Narasimhan

Daya is one of the kindest most caring people I have ever met. She has an inherent ability to connect with anyone and everyone, and she is not afraid to go out of her comfort zone in order to make someone else feel comfortable. She is incredibly vocal in and out of her class, and she has had a huge impact on the political climate of our grade and school. Daya is a hard worker -- she is insanely talented in so many ways. Her writing is beautiful, her speeches are empowering, and her acting is incredible. She dedicates all her efforts to making the world a better place, in every way possible. Her smile and laughter is contagious, and she always knows how to lift everyone's spirits up. She has done so much for the ASL community, and her efforts have definitely not gone unnoticed.

15 of 129

Omar Ben-Gacem

Omar reached out to me from the very beginning of my time at ASL. Spending advisories and advisory field trips talking to Omar about ASL life and crew made my first few months so much easier and certainly made me feel welcome. When I first mentioned joining the crew team, he lit up and let me vent to him about the pre-season week and gave me pointers while still speaking incredibly humbly. It wasn't until a few months later that I realized he was arguably ASL's top male rower, because he was so willing to talk to a complete novice in a completely unpatronizing way. He has continued to be incredibly friendly and is always the first one to say hi and check in.

16 of 129

Catherine Bennett

Catherine is one of the sweetest, funniest, most outgoing people I know. She is always either laughing or making everyone else laugh! She is always in a good mood, and brings a positive mindset to everything she does. Her rowing skills are unmatched, just like her sense of humor. She is extremely dedicated and trustworthy, making her a reliable and wonderful friend. She is one of the most genuine people that I know and always gives great advice. I am so lucky to consider her one of my close friends, and I am so happy I got to know her better this year.

17 of 129

Ben Berry

Ben is kindhearted, he's always asking me how my day has been. He's funny and brings laughs into the classroom, making otherwise boring subjects suddenly interesting. I really admire the way that Ben is his own person and doesn't follow the herd. I sometimes envy how Ben has seemingly figured out exactly what he wants to do, embracing an identity as a musician. His passion for music can be seen in every walk of life. He always knows how to crack a joke, and cares a lot about everyone around him. The senior class is lucky to have him!

18 of 129

Smayan Bhavnani

Thadani

Smayan is an amazing friend. He always lifts everyone up. He is so effortlessly kind and inviting, really a friend to everyone. He works well with others because he genuine cares what people have to say and seems to legitimately want success for others around him. I have seen him go out of his way so many times to help, no matter what he is busy doing. He is also remarkably self-aware and regularly works to improve himself and his skills in very impressive ways.

19 of 129

Jon

Bianco-Burrill

When Jon commits to something, he goes all in. He knows what matters to him, cares about those things deeply, and never gives up on them. His passion and dedication absolutely drive the people around him -- we are better because of his commitment. In a volleyball game, Jon never stops playing his hardest, even if the other team is up 20 points in the final set. As long as Jon keeps finding things he cares so much about, he will go on to do great things.

20 of 129

Zora Blair

Zora is the type of person who always puts the needs of others above her own. She is always there to laugh with me, cry with me, and help me through any problems or tough decisions I might be facing. She is the most trustworthy and down to earth person I have ever met. In addition, Zora constantly encourages myself and others to be better people through not only the things we say, but the things we do. I will truly miss Zora's friendship once I leave ASL. Zora is able to stay so calm in every situation. She is composed and poised while still being able to find the humour in mundane activities.

21 of 129

Thalia Bonas

Thalia is one of the most considerate people I know. She constantly thinks about everyone around her, and she has done so much for the community that will continue into the future. She isn't afraid to interact with people that the regular person would not interact with. Thalia cares so much about everyone around her. She is insanely talented with both a paintbrush and words, using both to tell the most beautiful and enrapturing stories. She is hilarious--her jokes never cease to make me laugh. Thalia's commitment to sustainability definitely does not go unnoticed. All of her hard work on Susco just goes to show how dedicated she is to making our world a better place. The world needs a lot more Thalia's in it. I am so lucky to be able to call her a friend.

22 of 129

Laura Boyle

Laura is an absolute gem. She is one of the smartest and most talented people I know, but she has never once come across as arrogant or cocky to her peers. She constantly contributes to the ASL community through not only participating in various councils such as SJC and the Senior Council, but she also used to spend many evenings after school tutoring both high school and middle school students. In addition, she is caring, funny, and welcoming to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are her close friends or someone she passes in the hallway. Laura is a shining face that I will definitely miss seeing. I cannot wait to read her novel one day!

23 of 129

Lauren Brantley

Lauren is one of the most fun people I know. She turns any occasion into a good time with lots of laughs, smiles, and hugs. She's also one of the hardest-working people I know, and never fails to amaze me with her talents both in the pool and at school. She's a loyal friend, honest, kind, and hilarious. I can't think of anyone I'd rather do nothing with. Whether sharing an opinion and telling some crazy story, she is one of those few people who always has something to say.

24 of 129

Madeleine Callaway

Maddy is incredibly positive and friendly. She is always laughing and just brings so much joy to the room. She anything but exclusive, and proves it daily. She is always ready to hear you out or support you if your struggling. Maddy is an amazing classmate and friend. Her smile lights up any room. She is so sweet and cares so much for everyone around her. She is a shining star, and she is definitely a face I will miss seeing. Also, thank you for putting together the stellar dance for Spirit Week! We wouldn't have won without it.

25 of 129

Kira Cascarino

Kira is one of the funniest, carefree people I have ever met. I admire her confidence and honesty. She is never afraid to speak up, and is always down for a challenge. She is an amazing artist: her class "doodles" are more like professional portraits. She is always making everyone laugh, and has a great sense of humor. The more that you really get to know her, the more it is evident how much she genuinely cares for and considers the people around her. Her sensitivity makes her special.

26 of 129

Cloe Chace

I am so glad that I had the chance to get to know Chloe. She is one of the sweetest people I know, and talking to her is always a great or laughter-filled experience. She has some of the funniest hot takes on things I've heard, and there's never a dull moment being around her. As she's mentioned herself, she's really done a fantastic job of flipping any stigma she might've had about her earlier in High School, and she's transformed into a fantastic peer who I'm so happy I've gotten to know better.

27 of 129

Tyler Chapman

Tyler is a really chill guy. He goes with the flow, is up for anything, and is so easy to get along with. Whenever I'm in a new class or group and Tyler is there, I know that I'll have someone to talk to and hang out with. Speaking to Tyler, it feels like you've been friends with him for a long time, even if you've never spoken before. He can always find some obscure parallel that makes you feel more connected. Tyler is someone definitely worth getting to know.

28 of 129

Takako Chisaka

Takako is been nothing but lovely and kind. We are in the same music theory class and she is always smiling. I think she knows all the answers to Mr P’s questions but always steps back and lets other people have a go. She does this with the utmost humility and kindness. She is also secretly quite witty -- as you get to know her more, you realize just how entertaining she is. I wish I had taken more time to get to know Takako as she is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people at ASL.

29 of 129

Alexander Clare

I’ve known Xander since freshman year and he has never failed to make me laugh. What’s special about Xander is that he’s always in a good mood no matter the instance. When he came back from his ski trip with a torn ACL, he was surprisingly calm and positive about the situation. Not only is he always in a good mood but also lifts the mood by being a great, kind, and funny guy.

30 of 129

Jack Clark

Jack is an all-around great guy. Kind, hilarious, and smarter than he believes, Jack is one of my favorite people to spend time with. I always look forward to seeing him, and know he's always up for a laugh. He makes people see the best and the funniest parts of any situation, and brightens everyone's day with his contagious smile and clever humor. Jack is a wonderful person, always genuine and inclusive, and I wish the world had more people like him.

31 of 129

Sean Collier

Sean is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the funniest people in our grade, and for sure the most underrated. Even though Sean has been at ASL less time than I have, after the first month of having classes with him I felt I've known him for much much longer. The dry personality he has is so funny and unique to the school, and it makes every conversation with him incredibly enjoyable. I often find myself excited to spot Sean at bottom O, as an interaction with him can make your day. Sean has been an awesome presence in High School and I'm really gonna miss seeing him next year.

32 of 129

Anisa Cooper

Anisa has such a great sense of style. She is confident and true to herself in every way, never suppressing herself to conform to those around her. I’ve been friends with Anisa since middle School and I can confidently say she is one of my closest friends. She has quick witted humour which is unmatched to anyone that I know, an amazing sense of style, and a deep commitment to caring for those around her. I love being around her because she is so observant and thoughtful about everything going on in the world.

33 of 129

Russell Cornelius

Russell is one of the only ASLers who will genuinely be friends with anyone. He's one of the craziest guys in Bottom O and is known to be down for a sesh with the boys but also was an epic USSR in Human Rights Sem and has always been ready and willing to buy into advisory discussions when few others were. He respects people for their hard work and their different definitions of fun, and in a Senior Council zoom expressed his love for our grade and his faith in us to come together like he sees possible. His love for this school and everyone who goes here is infectious and we will all miss him.

34 of 129

Sarah Covey

In every small interaction I have had with Sarah in the hallway, she is always kind. She is incredibly passionate about the activities that she is involved with, and that is quite present in her personality. Sarah was in my advisory at the beginning of middle school, and I have seen her grow in her confidence. She has always demonstrated compassion and true selflessness. She has a clever, witty streak that is so much fun to experience.

35 of 129

Ava Crawford

Ava is an amazing friend and a one of a kind person. She has a heart of gold and always looks for and finds the best in people and makes sure to nurture that and care for everyone. She is one of those people you meet in life who you know is extremely special but most of all, will always have your back no matter what. She is absolutely always there to listen to anyone's troubles and will never hesitate to lend a helping hand as well as incredible and comforting advice. She is one of the kindest, most pure-hearted people you will ever meet who always has a beautiful smile and laugh to share. She is one of the most resilient people I have ever met. She’s humble and she doesn’t let anything get in the way of her dreams. She’s kind and hilarious and I’m glad to call her one of my best friends.

36 of 129

Houdah Daniels

Houdah is one of the nicest people in our grade. She always has kind words to share with everyone. She always interacts with a warm smile and with care and intention. No matter how busy she is, she always has the time to talk and listen. It amazes me how hard she works everyday and how she still has the time to be selfless and caring about all of the senior class, as well as all of the teachers and the rest of the ASL community. Her impact on me as a new student showed me that I always had a friend in Houdah no matter how often or little we spoke. I never once saw her have a bad day where she minded her own business or ignored the presence of those around her. She always offered help to those that needed it. Houdah represents the best of our grade and the best of ASL.

37 of 129

Laura de Beer

When Laura sees that someone is sitting by themselves or feels like they are not themselves, she makes an effort to talk to them and make them feel included. She is an integral part of our ASL community and has made connections across many grade levels and she has played a big role in unifying our senior class. She is my best friend. She is absolutely hilarious and incredibly smart. I admire her compassion and determination. She is always willing to do the hard work behind the scenes even if it means she doesn't receive recognition for it, as long as she gets the opportunity to help others and the broader community. Laura doesn't know how to say "no" to any opportunity that comes her way.

38 of 129

Talia de Beer

When I first moved to London, Talia made me feel really welcome. During the Living London activities, she continued to have a positive attitude and show me around. A group of us hung out afterwards and it was really welcoming. She is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met. Talia is so good at integrating people in with groups, and can always find a connection between people, no matter how different they are. She actively seeks to be kind and friendly, setting an example for others to follow. I always try to be more open and caring because of what what Talia has done for me and so many others.

39 of 129

James De Ridder

James isn't always the most vocal, but he is always super kind. He always asks how I'm doing and find ways to connect with me. He has also been this friendly since at least when he first came to ASL. He never has anything negative to say about anyone and always finds a positive perspective to share. He also has an amazing sense of humor that creeps out at the perfect moments. I don't know too many people at ASL who are as gracious and willing to help anyone at anytime.

40 of 129

Tom Deagan

Tom is such a lovely person. From his immaculate sense of humor to his genuine concern for others, Tom is the best. He is one of the smartest people I know, and the only person I've met who is capable of grinding out an entire essay in a few hours. Somehow, the essay is always incredible. Tom makes any situation fun and reminds us all to take things a little less seriously. He brightens my day and makes me laugh until I cry. We love you, Tom!

41 of 129

Yash Dhir

Yash has a hidden talent: he's incredible at pottery!!! He is precise and artistically minded. He times his jokes well and always seems to know the precise mood of the room. He makes all of our classes more fun and is remarkably patient, taking time to ask about and really care for others. He always seems up to some very cool project and is eager to help others get equally excited about the task at hand.

42 of 129

Alex Dowd

Alex is genuinely a nice guy. He's got a good sense of humor and he's smarter than he knows. He's quick to congratulate someone and is a great person to talk to. He knows how to celebrate the best in everyone else around him. Dowd is just the definition of Dowd. He's purely himself and that's why I love him so much. He's just on a higher wavelength than everyone and just manages to make every conversation or interaction more entertaining.

43 of 129

Reece Dubin

Everytime I see him, I burst out laughing. Reece’s intellect combined with his interpersonal skills make him a natural leader. Whether it be in robotics or at the harkness table, he leads without dominating by being both assertive and receptive to his peers. In a social context as well, Reece is able to foster a sense of being on the same team; he is the type of leader to bring people together. While Reece can be humorously cynical and sarcastic, he also is such an extremely dedicated student. He stays focused and goal oriented whether it be in the physics lab or the MILL.

44 of 129

Delaney Edwards

Delaney is talented in so many ways. She's an amazing musician, an incredible artist, and a great friend. Delaney is clever in her intuition and her humor. She is a very authentic person, and very inclusive to others. She's never one to brag about her undeniable artistic and musical skills, either. She stands up for people, even if she doesn't know them well, and is unafraid to call people out, which is a remarkable quality to have. We all appreciate her more than she knows, and maybe we should show it more often. Delaney, you're fantastic!

45 of 129

Faris Fakhry

Faris doesn't know how to not make friends. That sounds ridiculous, but I mean it: you literally can't put Faris in any class, activity, or situation in general where he won't come out of it with one more friend. Faris is genuinely friends with more people than maybe anyone else in our class. And not only is he friends with Seniors, but he has some of the most unexpected and very close friendships with juniors and sophomores as well. People like to tease Faris a lot, but it always rolls off his back and it's this aspect of his personality that lets him get along with such different people. Faris is equally kind and considerate towards every single member of our grade and faculty and has always been a fiercely loyal friend.

46 of 129

Emilie Faracci

Emilie is one of my favorite people to talk to. She's great at giving advice, always has a funny or insightful story to share, and is so much fun to be around. Her kindness and genuine concern for others, as well as her palpable passion for art history, literature, and cooking make her a wonderful friend and an interesting person. She can make friends wherever she goes and bring people together. She is inclusive and genuine, and will be missed very much next year by us all.

47 of 129

Lily Ferragamo

Lily is hilarious, but she is also so kind. She's honest and direct, but she is also inclusive and seems not to care what others think of her (but if she's wondering, we all think she's great). I'll never forget how she was the first to welcome me when I was new, or how she spent her weekend getting lunch with a group of people she didn't know that well. She's always up for a good time, and makes any event infinitely more fun. She's smart and has a great taste in music and will make friends and bring people together no matter where she goes.

48 of 129

Duda Figueiredo

Duda is so kind hearted and nice to everyone. She really makes the effort to make everyone smile. And she is never fake. Duda is hilarious. She always knows how to make everyone smile, and has such a warm heart. She makes everyone's day just a little brighter with her unmatched sense of humour. I want to be a better person every time I see Duda interact with others. She is an amazing friend and classmate, and without her, how would we all remember to duda right thing?

49 of 129

Vanessa Figueroa

Vanessa has a smile that can light up a room. She is so hardworking and sweet. Whether she is in spanish class or art history she contributes and works to understand what is going on. Everyone is so lucky to know Vanessa. I am so lucky to have a friend like Vanessa. She is absolutely hilarious and radiates positivity. I admire how she never says "no" to new opportunities. Her commitment to making ASL a better place is clear throughout every project, club, or class she takes on. She is an amazing study partner: I am convinced that her mental math skills are unmatched. It is so comforting to know that I can always trust Vanessa with anything, and to know that I can confide in her without being judged. She has made my time at ASL 1000 times better.

50 of 129

Michael Flaherty

He has been a great teammate and friend for the seven years I have known him. He is willing to do anything to help people he cares about. He knows how to lighten the mood in any situation. In all the time I have known him he has been very friendly to everyone he has met and I have really enjoyed his friendship. He is one of the funniest, straight-up guys I know. He always knows how to make boring situations entertaining with a sense of humour like no other. He is a great athlete, and to be able to keep pushing and succeed with all of his injury issues shows a lot about his character.

51 of 129

Colette Gagne

Even though she was new at the start of junior year, Colette is one of the kindest, funniest most outgoing people. She is welcoming and warm, and greets new people with open arms. She came to the school and made an immediate impact, showing kindness to everyone she met. Colette is always smiling, and makes everyone around her feel welcome and included. There is a gentle ease about her that seems to help everyone feel a little more comfortable.

52 of 129

Jean

Gailly de Taurines

Jean brings his happiness and positivity into every situation. He loves to joke around but knows when it is time to get down to business. He is someone who even if you don't know him very well he is welcoming and so easy to talk to. He is so passionate about politics while also being the most impartial person in the world. He loves democracy and wants to hear the statistical reasoning behind all of my wild claims, basically born to be a politician. But he'll be the kind that actually has the people's interest in mind and will work to correct the corruption in government.

53 of 129

Grace Gallagher

Grace is the best! She is one of the funniest people I've ever met, and I honestly can't recall a time I spent with her where I haven't been hysterically laughing. She makes even the most boring of occasions memorable by lighting the room up with her humor and her smiles. She's quick to celebrate others and include people. She was my first friend at ASL, and she's always been there for me. Grace is a wonderful person and she makes everyone's life a little brighter.

54 of 129

Piya Garg

Piya is one of the most lovely individuals to be a part of this community. She quietly supports everyone and everything and cares so deeply about everyone in the school. She prioritizes others in such amazing ways and is the best friend anyone could have. She is simultaneously the kindest and most appreciative and person I have ever met; she's inspiring. Piya has an amazing sense of humour. She is such a hard-worker, and her work on SJC and NHS have not gone unnoticed. Thank you so much for everything, Piya! You make every day a little more enjoyable.

55 of 129

Gigi Gemma

Gigi Gemma is the kindest, funniest, and most empathetic human I have ever met. I feel blessed every single day to be one of her friends. When I was new to ASL, I frequently felt excluded and isolated. Gigi always perceived when I was upset or feeling left out. When a group of us would go out to lunch, and I was the lone person trying to keep up, she would wait for me and link elbows with me and talk to me. She never made me feel like she was just doing it to be polite. She always knows how to make me smile, not just superficially, but from my soul. She is non-judgemental and the most loyal friend anyone will ever have. She is so much smarter than she thinks she is, capable of seeing the beauty in everything, and a perpetual source of light and love.

56 of 129

Grace Gerwe

Grace is a force to be reckoned with, and one of the strongest people I have met during my time at ASL. I've known her since freshman year, but It wasn't until Junior year that I began to see what an incredible character she has. Grace is super involved in school, an incredibly hard worker, and knows how to persevere through any challenge or setback. As I've gotten to know Grace better I've realized she's one of the most sincere and thoughtful people in the school and has a huge heart. Seeing all that she's accomplished, I know she's just getting started and off to do even more incredible things.

57 of 129

Emily Glickman

Emily is always trying to get involved with people either through community partnerships, senior council, with Peppa, or just in the hallway. I feel like Emily is always trying to meet new people and get the grade to bond. She is such a kind person and is so friendly. She always goes to the days in the beginning to the year to meet new kids. When I was new to the class of 2020, Emily was in a few of my classes, and we were friendly. As we became closer friends, I realized how she made a point of developing a friendship beyond just the classroom, and how she makes meaningful connections with those around her, as well as creating a light-hearted environment at ASL. She is passionate about what is important to her, and I especially admire her values and her morals and how she repeatedly refers back to them in the way she acts.

58 of 129

Markos Glucksman

Last year Markos and I were the only juniors on our alternative. He is quiet but when he starts chatting he is so much fun. I have known Markos since the sixth grade when he accidentally stabbed himself with a pencil in our social studies class. He brings so much happiness into every room by just being himself. He also has an infectious energy -- once he gets going, people just seem to go along with him. I am going to very much miss all of his theatrical roles and friendship through long rehearsals.

Matthew Greenup

Matt is usually the funniest guy in the room, always quick with a joke or a jab. Matt always has a lot to share with his friends and is always a big part of a heated debate at lunch. I always felt like I was in a podcast while talking to him because he just had so much knowledge about people and things. He regularly has an obscure fun fact, amusing anecdote, or bizarre trinket to pull out when conversation gets dry (or even sometimes when it isn't dry - he's all too familiar with non-sequiturs). He's just a fun dude. He is always one to respond to our grade chain emails. He is the first to hit 'reply all' and get a conversation going between the class. The small action of responding to email updates to the entire grade speaks volumes of his character. He naturally builds friendships and is constantly trying to make everyone around him laugh or smile.

60 of 129

Pete Greig

From the eighth grade, Pete has been super kind and caring. He was super jolly and never failed to entertain me with random fascinating topics to discuss. He can carry a conversation with anyone about anything, and people usually leave a little more informed or intrigued. He is a friend to everyone he meets, and has the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. He has a remarkably calming presence -- no matter what the situation, he is a solid, wonderful source of support.

61 of 129

Eddie Gualandri

Eddie is simply a great guy. He treats everybody with respect and has a genuine care for others. I think that reflects not only in his friendships with his peers but also with faculty. He is one of the kindest people that I know. He is friendly to everyone and always eager to speak to people even if he isn't very close with them. He’s a great leader and he is full of compassion for others. He takes time to really listen to whatever is going on and is smart enough to know how to help others move forward. He is one of the most dependable, productive people at ASL, and has left an amazing mark on our school.

62 of 129

Rohan Haarmann

Rohan has a kind and open-hearted approach to life. He is up for any activity and will engage in any conversation. He is also tremendously reliable and can be quite helpful when it matters the most. He is someone who I know I always have a friend in. Whether it be over my gap year, or ten years down the line, if I call Rohan up, I know that he will always be there.

63 of 129

Gabe Hajjar

Gabe is a genuine friend, plain and simple. He looks out for those he cares about and always makes the time for you. Gabe was one of the first people I met when I moved to London, and his friendship made me forget all about what I had lost and instead made me excited for what was to come. I couldn't imagine life and my time at ASL without him there. Where he really shines is in a personal setting, as he is one of the the best people in the school to just sit down and share banter with. All in all, there are simply none like Haj.

64 of 129

Liam Hamama

Liam has very strong values and is often the first to stand up when he sees something wrong. Lots of people like to comment on issues within our grade, but never doing anything about them. Liam walks the walk and puts himself in vulnerable positions to stand up for others. He possesses the qualities of a natural-born leader. He listens when he needs to and is a shoulder that is always available. He is opinionated because he always tries to figure out what the best scenario is, not just for him, but for everyone – even those that are often forgotten. He puts himself and his needs after those of others, which is something that is extremely rare. All of his actions are genuine; he doesn’t do anything just to be recognized for it or to say that he did it. Liam truly is one of a kind.

65 of 129

Lindsay Harris

Lindsay is an all-around star. She's one of the smartest people I know, but she never brags about how many A's she gets in the hardest classes at ASL. She's talented and dedicated in everything she does, from volleyball to calculus to researching bacteria. She's one of the best people to talk to and one of my favorite to spend time with. She's funny and wise and great at giving advice or cheering you up. Lindsay is also absolutely HILARIOUS. She never fails to make me smile, and is always there to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. Lindsay brightens up every room she walks into. I admire her confidence. I am so lucky to have such a good friend like Lindsay.

66 of 129

Tanner Hatzmann

Tanner is one of the most genuine and non judgemental people I know. He’s incredibly smart but not imposing on anyone, and always listens first and takes in other people's opinion with serious thought. Tanner is a really laid back and approachable guy. He's really friendly and fun, but not in an overbearing way. He can be considered the spokesmen for our grade. He has given a few notable speeches simply to appreciate what we have and those who help us. Most notable was when he got onto the PA system at the junior lock down.

67 of 129

Anna Heinrich

Anna is hilarious; from her Italian phone calls with her mother, to her witty remarks, she always gets me cracking a smile. She is SO smart and is good at everything she does. She is always looking out for others, and is able to talk to anyone about anything. She has this wildly impressive well of the most random and entertaining information. She takes the necessary time to help others feel valued and consequently is one of those people that you hope you know your entire life.

68 of 129

Mckayla Hyman

You can always count on Mckayla to be a good friend. She's fiercely loyal and never hesitates to step up for the people she loves. Her relaxed approach to many aspects of life make and her eagerness to make everyone around her smile make her a wonderful person to spend time with. She is willing to put herself out there, always for the good of others.I seem to have a little more confidence every time I am around Mckayla I'm amazed at how quickly she made friends at ASL, but then again, knowing how sweet and fun she is, I'm not surprised.

69 of 129

Sofia Janssen

Sofia is one of the funniest and friendliest people I know despite only sharing a couple of classes with her. I was lucky enough to be in the same section in band as her this year and at first I didn't think anything of it. Before I knew it we were talking and her openness and kindness made band one of my favourite classes. Whenever I need a laugh all I have to do is look back at her in jazz band and she will whip out a signature dance moves. I am so glad that we have had time together this year she truly brightens up the room that she is in.

70 of 129

Mason Keeffe

Mason is nothing but hilarious and sweet. He's funny and his relaxed approach to life is greatly appreciated. He'll talk to anyone and make them smile. Mason is one of the kindest, most sincere person I have ever met. His smile lights up a room and is completely contagious. 71 of 129

Patrick Kennedy

Patrick is one of the most chill people to be around. If I'm ever stressed or need a moment to reset during the day, I go find Pat at bottom O and we chat about the most random and funny things. He's a great friend to have around in a group to help mediate any conflicts, and his presence can be incredibly valuable. He is a very grounded person who doesn't let anything get under his skin. He also has very good taste in music as well. I've been lucky to be friends with Patrick throughout high school, and I'm definitely gonna miss him next year.

72 of 129

Raunak Lally

I love Raunak! She's incredibly smart, one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and super inclusive and genuine. I can't think of anyone as down-to-earth and kind as she is. Her smile makes the whole room glow. All of the interactions and conversations I've had with her have always left me feeling better than before I saw her. She is a wonderful person and will make friends wherever she goes. I'm sure I'll see her writing and directing an incredible film one day, and I'm sure she'll be just as kind then as she is now.

73 of 129

Athena Lambropoulos

Athena is always smiling and always positive. Somehow, she has made reeking of chlorine and showing up to school with wet hair, sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt, stylish and cute. Her sarcasm keeps me laughing throughout the hardest of swim sets and I will miss having someone to run to Tesco with after we get kicked out of our Saturday morning practice at ASL. She is inspiring in the way that she can improve so much in whatever she pursues. There are few people as determined and gracious as Athena.

74 of 129

Jose

Francisco Lecaros

Jose has a poise about him that you have to respect. I recognize the steadfast nature he has and some of the true talent he possesses. His excellence in both music and linguistics is nothing short of impressive, and he presents himself incredibly well. Through everything, he hasn't faltered and remained solid in his beliefs. As he continues to grow and mature, I'm excited to see what else the guy is capable of.

76 of 129

Quinn Link

Quinn is quick to smile and one of the smartest people I've ever met. He's the only person I know who would read a book about absurd, almost indecipherable philosophy; talk about the stigmatization of rats; get a perfect score on a math test; and play the banjo all in the span of a day. Quinn is also a genuinely kind and compassionate person. Across the board, Quinn is a great friend, and the best person with which to get a meatless marinara from Subway in the middle of a rainstorm. He always looks out for others and puts them first. If you are working with him he will gladly help you with your work before he finishes his own. Even if you aren't working with him, but are near him, he will walk over and ask you what you are working on, and ask if you need help anyway.

77 of 129

Filippo Lisanti

Filippo may seem quiet at first, but once you get to know him he is extremely sweet. He has strong values that he always upholds, and is also a great artist. He is one of those guys who is just steady in his thinking and beliefs, and acts accordingly. His honest, straight-forward nature is such a wonderful asset to our class. Filippo is a hardworking friend that has constantly supported me in and out of school. When he came back from his semester abroad I didn't know him too well, but after a month or two we became close friends. Whenever we saw each other at a hangout or in a hallway we would always say hello and give a quick handshake.

78 of 129

Nicolas Lockhart

Nick is perhaps one of the most well-versed individuals I've ever met with regard to the stock market. I'm always in awe of just how much he knows and how he's willing to spend his time educating me about it. His passion and knowledge definitely impacts others, and he is always willing to share whatever new idea or theory he has learned. He also has all of these undiscovered, random bits of information that keep every conversation interesting.

79 of 129

Angel Lu

Angel has a passion for her craft that is clear just from looking at her. Whether it's in acting class or during a performance, Angel gives her all to the roles that she plays. Coming to ASL only a few years ago, she has done a fantastic job of establishing herself as a true performer in our class -- you can just feel the buzz when she is up on stage.. She's a great person to work with, and I'm excited to see what she does next!

80 of 129

Aydin Maharramov

Aydin is a person who I have incredible respect for. As I've gotten to know him better, I've understood just how wonderful of a guy he really is. Although he only joined our class in junior year, he's integrated himself into our grade as a top-tier friend and character. As someone who moved to ASL freshmen year, The transition was difficult enough for me not knowing anyone. Seeing Aydin establish himself in as little time as he has spent here is nothing short of inspiring, and speaks droves about the type of guy he is. He's sincere, heartfelt, and someone people should strive to be like.

81 of 129

Elizabeth Manero

Elizabeth is one of the kindest girls I have met. She is always down to have fun, always inclusive and goes out of her way to bring other people into a group. 82 of 129

Isabella Mattera

I first met Isabella outside my first period class on my first day at ASL, freshman year. I was so nervous, but Isabella came over, introduced herself, and introduced me to her friends. This moment meant everything to me, and from the first interaction I had with Isabella to every day following, she has been a source of kindness to me, and to everyone she interacts with. Isabella's entire being embodies friendship. She has the ability to remember personal details about everyone she meets, and to inquire about these details when she sees someone again. Isabella always has the time to stop in the hallways of ASL and have a lengthy conversation with someone she hasn't seen in years, or in about five minutes, because she makes it clear that everyone is worth her time.

She is genuinely such a good person who wants to make people laugh and smile. She made so many of my experiences in high school better just by being there.

85 of 129

Esmeralda

Montgomerey

Esme is wonderfully creative and so loyal to her friends. She will be there for you no matter what, and I cannot appreciate her generosity enough. She creates these incredible works of art that look like they should be in a museum. She has real talent. She also has the most random, hilarious story. No matter what the topic of conversation, she can pull out some anecdote that captures the attention of everyone around. Though she says that she is “too sensitive” at times, it is exactly this quality that helps her be so authentically kind and compassionate to everyone she meets. Please never change, Esme!

86 of 129

Kenzie Morris

Kenzie is the best! She's so smart, genuinely kind, and passionate about making the world better. She was one of my first friends at ASL and never failed to make me feel included. She's so funny, but never at the expense of others. She cares a lot about her friends and will go out of her way to make them feel loved. Kenzie has the biggest heart. She is always looking out for everyone, and always knows exactly what to say to cheer me up when I feel down. Alice is hilarious, on top of a whole list of amazing qualities. She times her jokes perfectly while simultaneously creating the next great Realism artwork. She is also deeply compassionate and beloved by the kids at the community partnership Doorstep. They just flock to her as soon as she walks in the room. Kids are the best judge of character and they are so right about trusting Alice. Alice is someone that makes life wonderful. She somehow makes all situations fun and joyful because she paves the way for us to have a good time, and even if it’s the last thing she does she will make sure we are all having fun! She is hardworking and determined and we all know that she is going to be some important in the world. We love you, Alice!

88 of 129

Jon Novak

As long as I've known Jon, he is always very welcoming and super friendly to talk to. He will go out of his way to make people feel welcome and I think he deserves a lot of respect for that. Jon was the nicest kid in kindergarten. He was also the nicest kid in fourth grade, and eighth grade (he even won an award for it in fourth grade). It is no surprise to me that his traits of friendliness, kindness and sincerity have continued into high school. He embodies "you've got a friend in me", and has been that way for his fourteen years at ASL. He is one of the most committed and hardworking people I have ever met. Alongside that, he is kind, respectful and welcoming to everyone around him.

89 of 129

Marie Ogino

Marie is always willing to help. I have never had a moment where she has made me feel anything but a friend. Marie is truly one of the BEST people I've ever met. She's insanely smart but never shows off, and she doesn't need to, as her intellect shines through in everything she does. She always has a smile on her face and is the first to help you out when you're struggling or comfort you when you're upset. She's so much fun to be around and brightens up everyone's lives. Even when the grade feels divided at times, we can all unite in loving Marie.

Anna Podurgiel

Anna is such a genuine and real person. She is nice to everyone, but definitely stays true to her own morals and values. She is such a hard worker, so down to earth, and her general presence just demands respect. Although most people don't know this, Anna is one of the funniest people I know. She never fails to bring a positive spin to everything she does. Her ability to balance school and extracurricular commitments amazes me. I admire her determination and humbleness. I am so happy for everything she has accomplished so far, and I am confident that she still has so many amazing opportunities coming her way in the next few years.

96 of 129

Nathan Potter

Nathan is a calming presence and a great guy to know. Every time I've hung out with him, he makes the vibe so much better just by being there. She has enough empathy and understanding to share with everyone of us and makes our class a better place. Mia is so bubbly and positive. She is incredibly optimistic and outstandingly caring within the community. She participated every season for every year of high school with the Doorstep community partnership and it is clear that her care for others is immense.

100 of 129

Yaniv Regev

Every time I walk into Advisory, Yaniv’s voice is among the first I am likely to hear. From the moment Yaniv came to ASL he has been outgoing and outspoken about his opinions and above all his love for Katy Perry. It’s this unwavering confidence that encourages those around him to form a more open and genuine environment for all to enjoy. Yaniv is an eccentric, strong-willed, wonderful classmate who always adds an extra twist to the conversation around the harkness table and can talk to anyone with ease. He is confident and inclusive and has an admirable level of dedication to the things he cares about most.

There is never a dull moment when he is around.

102 of 129

Lucas Romualdo

Lucas has never met a challenge he doesn't love. I've heard him say he's at school to be successful, not to make friends, but honestly, it's hard not to become friends with Lucas. He's clearly passionate, hilarious, and engaging. He's the best to laugh with when you're frustrated about politics, and the first to ask when you're confused about something. He's a lot of fun and a great guy. His knowledge and interest in politics makes me want to learn more.

103 of 129

Reuben Ross

Reuben might be one of the deepest thinkers that I have ever met. He questions everything with amazing detail. He often holds back his opinions initially, but he clearly cares about people and issues. Abby Rowe

Abby is one of the sweetest people I know. She is always in a good mood, and never fails to make me smile. I know that I can always trust her, as she is remarkably true to her word. She is incredibly smart, and always knows the answers to everything. She is a flat out inspiration -- we should all try to be a little more like Lauren.

106 of 129

Argy Sakti

Every time I see Argy, I smile. Everybody in the grade loves Argy. Really, everyone in the school loves Argy. He has become a legend of the class of 2020. Beyond that, he is really one of the nicest people I've gotten to know at ASL. He's a great guy who can adjust and acclimate to any situation and always makes the best of wherever he is. It was really inspirational to watch him go from learning how to play basketball his freshman year to playing on varsity his senior year. He's a hard worker and perfects his craft – this is evident in his soccer skills too. Just think about spirit day, without Argy I don't know what our class would be like.

107 of 129

Margot Sarfas

Margot is never the type to exclude others; she is thoughtful and while she has a close circle of friends, her willingness and excitement to reach out to students of all ages and interests within the ASL community knows no bounds. Through these classes and community partnerships, she is the first to make an effort to use her opportunities to establish new connections, helping to make ASL's community more interactive through grade levels and more empathetic to those that we might not see every day. Also, she is the co-president of the SFDB and her role within it reminds me every day the strength of her character. She assumes responsibility like a true leader but, again, uses that space to draw each member of the board together. Sunshine emanates from Margot.

108 of 129

Maxine Schabel

Maxine is hilarious and kind, a veritable ray of sunshine. She's so smart and so compassionate. She makes every conversation more fun and meaningful. 110 of 129

Ethan Snizek

When people say that Ethan is a comedian they don’t simply mean that he is funny, but rather that he makes people laugh as though it’s his job. I have never met another person who is as dedicated to ensuring others are having a good time as Ethan. It doesn’t matter whether or not you are his close friend or not, Ethan can bring anyone and everyone together with laughter. Ethan is definitely outgoing, and has mastered the art of the one-liner. He is very confident and lighthearted and regularly makes school a more relaxed and enjoyable environment,

111 of 129

Michaela Spurr

The greatest testament to Michaela lies in her friends themselves. It is not a coincidence that Michaela attracts the warmest and most genuine people to her social circle. This phenomena can be traced back to the kindness Michaela shows towards others -- the kind of kindness that invites more kindness in return. Michaela is one of the most effortlessly empowering and understanding people that I know. She cares so strongly about so many and her empathy is inspiring. Michaela is extremely thoughtful and genuinely interested in others. She always asks people how they are doing with true interest and kindness.

Ella George Stapleton

Ella is pure cool. That's the best way to put it. She is creative and stylish and talented, and does everything with such power. She is 100% herself and will not stand for anything other than just that. I often wish I had her level of confidence and her commanding presence; when she walks into a room it's like she owns it, in the best way. You can just tell she's going to become famous or run a business one day. Once you get to know Ella you wish for your whole life that you never have to live without a friend like her. She can make you fall over laughing as well as make you feel incredibly supported. She is creative, strong, and takes life head on. She is someone incredibly special and we love her with all our hearts.

113 of 129

Theodor Stenmo

Theo is a great friend who I know I will be able to rely on for a long time to come. We have made so many memories since sophomore year. On the outside, Theo is quiet, reserved and humble. Most know very little about Theo, but when you are fortunate enough to peel back his outer layer you might find the most loyal and true friend anyone could ask for. Theo embodies the meaning of friendship and he will be by your side for the best and worst times. When he came to ASL, in a short period of time he managed to create very strong bonds with all of his friends, and his passion in football, especially against Cobham, was great.

Can is the most helpful, patient friend. He's so much smarter than me, but never makes me feel dumb and never speaks to me in a condescending way when trying to help me with my homework. He is always in touch, is incredible at learning languages, and has an overflowing amount of love for his dog, Basri, who is also his screensaver. He is also unbelievably easy to talk to. He has this naturally soothing presence, and always seems to know exactly what to say or do no matter what the situation.

Dylan Sweidan

Dylan just makes every situation super fun and hilarious. Whenever I see his name on the roll call for a class, I know that I'm in for an absolute blast for the next hour. He's an incredibly relaxed, laid back guy who can make anyone feel included and comfortable. His music taste is fantastic as well -- his musical knowledge is unparalleled and he is always willing to share new artists, songs, and creations with everyone around. I wouldn't trust anybody else with the aux cord.

Cloe Tchelikidi

Cloe is incredibly bright, friendly and so down to earth. She's always willing to share her massive bag of tortilla chips, but her generosity does not stop there -- she also takes time to really get to know someone and support them however possible. She is strong, smart, and carries herself with so much confidence. In robotics, she commands the room with ease, capturing the attention of even the most distracted team members. It is probably this skill that allows her to get so much done, but have so much fun as well. She is always having a good time, and brings fun wherever she goes.

John Towfighi

John Towfighi is one of the best people I have ever known. He sees the world in a really special way, and is somehow able to put into words his hilarious observations, deep thoughts, and unique perceptions. Watching him light up as he plays music or writes is incredible. John is one of those rare people who could and would become, friends with everyone he encounters. He works endlessly on the Standard and never is out to seek validation or praise. He is humble and effortlessly kind. John always seems to lift everyone's spirits, and he always has a positive attitude. I love that he not only invigorates the senior class, but he takes time to have conversations with friends, classmates, and teachers whenever he can.

Sofia Van Mierlo

Sofia is the kindest person I know. Her sensitivity makes her aware of how others around her are feeling. As a result she's incredibly empathetic and always willing to lend an ear. She's also very hardworking and I'm so glad that I got to know her because she inspires me. Her artwork is truly magical. She puts the same amount of dedication and care into each piece as she does with anyone she meets. She is one of those people who just seems to effortlessly connect to and appreciate everything around her.

Elijah VanderMolen

Elijah is not always the loudest, but after one conversation, you realize what a really good person he is. He is someone who has interacted with a lot of people, and never leaves a bad taste. He is ridiculously smart, while always looking to help and have fun. He is one of the best listeners that I know and will patiently be a great sounding board for anyone who just needs to vent. He is also a great storyteller and a wonderful teammate, always there to support anyone who needs a little extra encouragement.

Natalie Vann

Natalie is really involved with the school and the school community. She's been in the grade since K1 and has really been able to get to know everyone and you can tell how much she loves that by everything she does in StuCo or Peer leadership. I feel like she would be a really good representative of friendship in our grade. She always has a smile on her face and was super welcoming when I first met her. I could always rely on her and she was always surrounded by a group of people. When I had an art project I needed a model for, she sacrificed her Friday night to help me. She does whatever she can to help those around her regardless of the circumstances.

Kiko Wafa

Kiko is a great friend of mine. He is someone who is always open to listening to issues without judgment. Though not always the loudest speaker in the room he is an attentive listener and is someone that I and others have always been able to rely on. He never seems to be in a rush when it comes to his friends, always taking the time to simply be available. He is always friendly and cheerful. He keeps the environment incredibly positive and seems to know how to bring the best out of others.

Lily Whitman

Lily’s capacity for kindness is limitless. Lily has immersed in the ASL community in a number of ways: she is a dedicated athlete and team captain, a talented musician and a longstanding participant in community partnerships. Walking through the halls, she is the face that no one is hesitant to greet because, in everything she does, she puts her relationships first, using each opportunity to reach out beyond the senior class or those that she already knows. She takes the time in class, on the pitch and on the stage to get to know everyone she is working with and never fails to make those around her feel welcome. This ceaseless connectivity helps bring any group, whether it be a class or a team, closer together, making her an outstanding leader but perhaps an even more outstanding team member.

Claire Wiest

Claire is so funny, cool and intelligent. She does what feels right for her -- it's inspiring. She has more perseverance than most. She knows what she wants and how to get there. Just watching her makes me want to work that much harder and be that much better. She's also incredibly knowledgeable about everything and has a crazy good memory. She has a really good heart and is caring as well. Every interaction I have with Claire leaves me in stitches!

Jack Wilkin

Jack is just so, so nice. Sometimes it seems like he's constantly nervous that he's going to upset someone, even though I doubt that has happened in many years. He's been friends with lots of different groups of people in our grade, and although he has now settled into one group he is still the type of person who could talk to anyone. Being in Peer Leadership with him, I've really gotten to know more about him, and it is just so apparent that Jack wants everyone around him to feel happy and comfortable. In our grade group chat, he's always one of the first people to speak up when someone is being put down, even when he knows he'll likely take some heat for doing so. I think we should all try to be a little more like Jack.

Jessica Woodhams

Jess is incredibly lively and fun to be around. She is very loyal and always makes an effort to bring everyone together. There is never a dull moment when I'm with her. Whether on sports teams or in the classroom, she always tries her hardest and makes everyone feel connected, and that they are part of something bigger than themselves, such as our senior class. She has a wonderful sense of humor that comes out at the most unexpected times. She is also one of the best teammates that anyone could ever hope to have.

Ezgi Yurdanur

Ezgi is an extremely sensitive, interesting, and fun person. She is always happy to have deep conversations with or to just laugh with. She's the type of person you can be free to be yourself around. Her spontaneity has made my high school years stupid fun and her music/fashion taste is fire. She is absolutely going to be one of those famous ASL alumni one day who comes back and inspires others. When I think of Ezgi, I think of a person that cannot drink bubble tea because the combination of liquids and solids is too much for her. She's also one of the most caring and creative people I know. Anytime something crazy happens, you go to tell Ezgi first.

Noor Zalt

Noor is so kind and always willing to share, and I think that this is vital, especially in a high school student when things are often competitive. She's funny and hard-working and was one of the first to welcome me to ASL. Noor isn't interested in nonsense. Her love of literary nonfiction is only a small indicator of how interested she is in real-world issues, no matter how complex. She is super smart and incredibly authentic in everything she does. When she tells a story, everyone listens, taken away by her enthusiastic voice and unique way of seeing the world.
