1-To be a self-confident

2-To speak as much as in English

3-To be a good reader

4To have a sufficient vocabulary

Principles of Communication Skill

  1. Make your dialogue as informative as necessary

2. Be Truthful

3. Make your contribution relevant

4. Make your contribution transparent, unambiguous & clear

5. Make the listener feel cheerful & comfortable

6. Do not impose things on your listener

7. Whenever possible encourage &praise your listener

8. Speak in a natural manner

9. Use colloquial expressions, short forms &clichés etc

10. Use plain, simple, straightforward English

soup, please?

  • Waiter : Of course sir
  • Customer : By the way, in the mean while could I use your phone please?

  • Leena : Good Morning, Merry. How are You?
  • Merry : Good Morning Leena. I’m fine, thanks. How are you?
  • Leena : I’m fine too, thanks. How’s everything?
  • Sulekha : Morning Leena.
  • Merry : Leena, are you free on Friday its my son’s birth day and I

would like you to come and have a lunch with us.

  • Leena : I would like to come thank you
  • Merry : Sulekha, I would like you too to lunch with us
  • Sulekha : that’s very kind of you, Merry. But I am sorry. I’m going to

Mumbai for a week. Thank you for asking me, any way.

  • Clerk : God morning, sir
  • Boss : Good morning how are you
  • Clerk : I am fine, thank you. Sir, I want to make a

go and pick up my son from his school.

  • Boss : Yes of course, you can
  • Clerk : one more thing, sir tomorrow is my wife's

birth day. Can I apply for a day’s leave?

  • Boss : I’m afraid that’s not possible.
  • Clerk : All Wright sir

Complaining & Apologizing …

  • First neighbour : Well Mr. Joshi, I want to complaint about your

dog. He barks the whole night and doesn't let us

sleep

  • Mr. Joshi : I am extremely sorry about that. I’ll see to it that

he doesn't disturb you any more.

  • Second neighbour : I’m sorry to say this , but what your son does

isn’t fair. His music is too loud. You know my

kids are studying for an examination.

  • Mr. Jishi : Oh! I am awfully sorry for that. I will instruct my

son not to play his music too loudly.

  • Third neighbour : I’m afraid I too have got a complaint. But it’s about

your wife. She throws all the rubbish in to my

courtyard

  • Mr. Joshi : I’m terribly sorry for behavoiur. I will ask her to dump the

rubbish into the dust bean over there.

  • Reema : simply great! Wonderful people!
  • Teena : it’s a big gathering, isn’t it? Just fantastic! Seema why don’t you have another Ice cream?

  • Reema: Teena, I hope you don’t mind, but I too have to be going. Bye bye . Good night Seema
