    1. Read the math problem you are working on aloud (all work on the same problem)
    2. Each person independently works on task for 30-60 seconds

Probing & Eliciting Student Thinking

Please do the following:

  1. Find a partner and have each person select a task (area, proportional relationship or factoring)
  2. Assign one person to be the “STUDENT” and the other person to be the TEACHER”
  3. Have the STUDENT work on the task as they think a student would work on the task WHILE the TEACHER tries to follow the STUDENT’s thinking and work.
  4. Switch roles.
