Summer School -

Registration Opens January 8th

Why take a summer school class?

  • prepare for high school
  • earn high school credit
  • get a class finished over the summer (PE)
  • Credit advancement courses - work at your own pace and do not require students to log-in daily

  • Students can expect to spend 8-10 hours a week for each course since the curriculum is condensed and the term is shortened. Consider summer commitments prior to registering for any summer courses

  • Students will be required to attend a meeting with their instructor during the first week of summer school. These meetings will be offered at 3 different times/days in order to accommodate student schedules and will be communicated by teachers.

Some Things to Consider…

Asynchronous Virtual Summer Learning Attendance Guidelines

  • Students should receive an email from their instructor the week prior to the start of summer school.
  • If they do not, they still must log-in to their course(s) in Schoology by June 11th.
  • Students who fail to do so will be automatically dropped from the course. Students cannot be re-enrolled in the course if this occurs.

Please see the drop guidelines listed below:

*If you sign up for Physical Fitness Concepts in summer school, be sure to complete the form on the Class of 2030 Google Classroom to specify a course request to replace PE for the 26/27 school year. Form will open on January 8th when the IC portal opens.

Course removed from student schedule if student has not logged in or attended welcome meeting

Course removed from student schedule if student has not submitted an assignment or participated in the course.

Student drop will result in an NC (No Credit) on transcript if drop is requested.

Student drop will result in an F on transcript.

IMPORTANT…

  • Please be thoughtful in requesting classes; the master schedule is guided by student course requests
  • It can be challenging to make changes later
  • Core classes scheduled FIRST - then electives
  • Administrators do their best to build schedules, but no guarantees that all course requests can be satisfied
  • Requests for specific teachers, blocks, lunch shifts or classes with friends cannot be honored
  • If a class doesn’t “make” we will shift to an alternate!
