Overview

The Cranston Teachers’ Alliance, Local 1704, annually awards five (5) $1500.00 scholarships to five college or technical school-bound seniors: two from both CHSE and CHSW, and one from NEL/CPS. The selection is made based on 5 criteria.

Criteria 1: Official Transcript

The committee will consider your official transcript of third-quarter grades with the unweighted career GPA.

Criteria 2: Activities, etc.

Students will need to upload evidence of participation in extracurricular and/or community activities such as class or student council, sports, band, Scouts, school newspaper, various clubs, etc. They should not include graduation required community service. They should include the number of years they participated in each activity and any leadership positions held.

Criteria 3: Recommendation Letter

Student will need to upload a recommendation letter from a teacher of a junior or senior subject area.

Criteria 4: FAFSA and EFC

Students will need to upload a screenshot of the

EFC from FAFSA.

Criteria 5: Personal Statement

Students need to upload a one-page personal statement describing their overall experience in the Cranston Public Schools and provide any additional information as to why we should choose them.

Process:

  1. Gather the information described for each criteria area.
  2. Complete this FORM uploading the information required digitally.
  3. Submit the form by Monday, April 7, 2025.
