Digital Media and Communications Pathway
Overview: The Digital Media and Communication Pathway helps prepare students for entry-level positions as film and video production crew members or to continue their training in a post-secondary program. This pathway is designed to give students the advanced technical, artistic, and academic skills necessary to succeed in today’s workforce.

Digital Media and Communications Pathway
YEAR 1: Audio/Video Production I
Students will gain job-specific training for entry level employment in audio, video, television, and motion picture careers. Professional grade equipment and software will be used in the creation of student lead productions. Students will be involved in every aspect of several class and small group audio, video, and film style production projects.
YEAR 2: Audio/Video Production II
This course explores the Audio and Video production industry and its post-secondary educational and career opportunities. Students will continue to develop job-specific training for entry-level employment in audio, video, television, and motion picture careers. Professional-grade equipment and software will be used in the creation of student-led productions. Students will be involved in every aspect of several class and small group audio, video, and film-style production projects. Students will also be encouraged to participate as studio crew for district productions outside of school hours.

Digital Media and Communications Pathway
YEAR 3: Filmmaking
Students learn how to use digital video editing software to create, edit, and save movies. Students will create movies using digital video clips, digital photos and music. The basics of shooting good video, capturing video from a camera to a computer, creating movies for the web, and creating a finished product will be covered.

Television Production
TV producers work behind the camera, putting together the different elements of the broadcast and making sure that everything works together smoothly. This course covers the essential components of TV broadcast production, including the use of microphones, cameras, video editing software, and lighting equipment. The basics of editing and chroma key (green screen) techniques are also introduced. Students gain practical experience producing their own video projects in the studio.
YEAR 4: Capstone: Digital Media & Communications
This course allows for advanced work in the Digital Media & Communications Program of Study. This advanced work can be individualized to the specific program of study to allow for specialized study for the student. It may include project based learning or preparation for end of program industry certification. Specific content and course design will be determined by the instructor in collaboration with the individual student.
