Monitoring and Risk Analysis

  • Agency provides MS with risk analysis on all components of the EU IBM and monitors migratory flows towards and within the EU, leading to a pre-warning mechanism.

Liaison Officers in the Member States

  • Foster cooperation between the Agency and national authorities, e.g. on vulnerability assessment & monitor measures taken at 'hot' border sections.

Vulnerability Assessment

  • Agency assesses the MS' capabilities and vulnerabilities regarding border control and recommends improvements to the MS concerned when gaps are identified.

The Agency deploys European Border and Coast Guard teams at Member States' request.

Migration Management Support Teams

Large influxes of mixed migratory flows occur at a hotspot areas.

The Agency + Europol and EASO, provides Migration Management support for registration, identification, fingerprinting and return.

Situation requiring urgent action

The functioning of the Schengen area is at risk - escalating situation at a particular border section.

Council decision - the Agency deploys European Border and Coast Guard teams at that border section.
