Project Description
For our EQS project, we decided to film a stop motion animation movie. This movie is about plastic pollution awareness and will be about 1 hour long. This movie will be filmed with LEGO’s, (kinda ironic because they’re plastic) and will be animated by Pono. Max is working on the plot of our film. A lot of people in our class are going to be voice actors for this film, some being bigger roles than others.
How We Started
When we first created our film idea, we had a totally different idea for what the story was going to be. Originally, making a film about plastic pollution was Pono’s idea, but Max was a huge help, writing the plot of the entire story! We worked for months on the story, and it ended up being almost 8 pages of writing!
Film Description
Our film is about twins, Aron and Azalea, who live on Earth in the year 3045. This is an alternate version of our planet, which had been littered with trash. The movie is about Aron and Azalea's adventures to stop the cause of the pollution, and save the Earth! This movie is in production right now, and will most likely be completed in a year or so. This project is one of the longest ones that we have ever made! We hope you are excited for our film!
Our Essential Question
Our essential question is: What does it take to sustain a community? Our project effects this question because our film is a tool to show our community the dangers and problems of plastic pollution.
Mental Model We Wanted To Shift, And How We Will Do It
The mental model that we want to shift is the anthropocentric, to people who believe that we are all in this together. Our film will affect this mental model because it has a really strong message to it. It will inspire people to use less one time use plastic utensils, bags, gloves etc.
What We Accomplished In Our First Year
As surprising at it is, we have only touched the surface of our project. We still need to do a lot of things! So far, we have only finished the script, and have just finished the final touches on the teaser trailer! This film has only just started, and in the end, it will be amazing, we promise!

What’s Next for Plastic Island?
Plastic Island has only just begun, we have planned for our film to be continued next year! Our release date is around the end of the school year of 2022, and we hope that our film will be around 45 minutes to an hour.
