Attendance
So far
We’ve learned how to animate something moving across the screen, and added a background.
What we are doing next:
We will be creating an Animated Walk Cycle
And learning how to add sound and create a short story or narrative from the walk cycle.
But we will be doing it with….
stick figures
Stick figures can be great for creating animations!
This will be your first summative unit for this class.
This will be a longer project, with more parts and more to learn how to do, therefore we need to try extra hard to stay on task.
We will be following the IB Art Cycle for this unit.

Walk cycle video
The Walk Cycle
This is how we make an animated character look like it’s walking.
The Walk Cycle
Why is it called a walk cycle?
What is a cycle?
The Walk Cycle
How many different positions are there?
Look closely.
Talk to a neighbor about your answer.
That’s right, 8 positions
A cycle repeats over and over. The last position is the same as the first, and when we create our cycle, we can loop these 8 positions to create a walk cycle.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1
But as a stick figure….
Now how many different positions do you see?
Talk to a neighbor.
There are only 4 different positions with a stick figure.
1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1
Also notice: the height of the character changes up and down with each position.
Your Task:
Select frames, Right Click, Create Cycle
