In 6th grade, you get to learn about different times in the world’s history! This book is an overview of our history.

Galileo Galilei was a man who lived from 1564-1642 in Italy. He was one of the scientists who showed that the planets rotate around the sun, instead of around the earth. Our understanding of the solar system continues to change today. Look at this diagram of our solar system. Where do you see value differences--or did the artist leave them off? Is the proportion (or size) of the spheres important? Why or why not?

Draw the planets lined up, in proportion to each other. Add your own shading to create value differences (a light side and dark side on each planet… the light side will be facing the sun).
