Early Insight: A new persona emerged

    • 5 of 6 participants were young tech/gig workers from Nigeria
    • Each participant started using crypto because they wanted to be paid by foreign employers in a stablecoin (USDC/USDT) due to frustrations with the government and local currency in Nigeria
      • Stablecoins are instant whereas USD takes days to get transferred into their accounts
      • Stablecoins are safer than local currency
    • None of the participants invest in crypto - it’s used exclusively for transactions
    • There appears to be very little interest in trying different wallets or blockchains
    • None of the participants have been hacked
    • None of the participants had a problem using their apps for the first time
    • Most of the research done was about the technology of crypto, not the investment side of crypto

UX Writing - Phase 2 Team Handoff

Phase 2 Team Handoff - What we did

K-wallet

The UX Writing team rapidly pulled together and drew on the highly varied experiences of its members.

Possibly our biggest achievement was to establish collaboration with other teams, particularly Design and Research. We did this by setting up a 3-Phase Voice and Tone Workshop Series for KADET Wallet.

Phase 1: Interview with the Client

Phase 2: Collaboration with all KADET Wallet teams to get feedback on the product’s qualities

Phase 3: Writing team workshop

We also created the skeleton for a Content Style Guide, which should be expanded upon in the next phase.

It goes without saying that we also proofread and discussed how to write easily understandable content.

Phase 2 Team Handoff - Pain points

K-wallet

Pain points included:

  • At the beginning of phase 2, the UX Writing team felt that we were primarily considered to be “proofreaders” who were there to “clean up” copy from phase 1
  • Time zones. Fortunately, 3 of the UX Writing team were in Europe, with only one on the West Coast of the US (9 hrs difference), but meeting with other teams was sometimes a strain for us in the CEST time zone (i.e. meetings starting at 10:30 p.m.)
  • Time constraints with other teams (see above)
  • Small team (it would have been nice to have 1-2 more members, e.g. for research purposes)
  • We needed more time (or more team members) to test our copy

Phase 2 Team Handoff - What worked

K-wallet

The UX Writing team had many strengths:

  • A wide variety of experiences, including science, marketing, research, and writing
  • Good communication skills
  • Goal-orientation and desire to collaborate

31 of 36

Phase 2 Team Handoff - What didn’t work

K-wallet

The UX Writing team needed more time for

  • Testing copy
  • Research, e.g. especially for a future KADET University. It would be important to uncover ways of explaining complex crypto-related content without jargon

32 of 36

Phase 2 Team Handoff - What’s next

K-wallet

The UX Writing team showed the importance of the content first approach. In our opinion, a Content team should work with Product, Research, and Design right from the start.

  • We will develop recommendations for phase 3 during the next week
