WHAT IS THE ACAP?

  • ACAP is Alabama’s standardized test that students take each year
  • It stands for Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program

WHAT SUBJECTS DOES ACAP INCLUDE?

  • Math
  • ELA (Reading)
  • Science (4th, 6th, 8th graders)

WHAT DOES THE ACAP REVEAL?

  • The ACAP tests students on material he/she was tested on during the school year
  • It reveals whether or not students are on grade level
  • It provides districts/states a snapshot of where schools are
  • This is where we get a school’s report card

WHO TAKES THE ACAP?

  • Students in 2nd – 5th grades take the ACAP
  • There are no Opt outs
  • Everyone must test

WHEN IS THE ACAP?

  • State testing dates are March 17th – April 25, 2025
  • ELA Boot Camp is 2 weeks prior to ELA testing
  • EES typically takes ELA the week prior to Spring Break
  • Math Boot Camp will be 2 weeks following Spring Break
  • Math and Science are taken the week following Math Boot Camp
  • Testing Dates will be announced via School Status and on Social Media

CAN MY CHILD FAIL THE ACAP?

  • Yes and No
  • Students in 3rd Grade Must Meet the “Cut Score” of 444 or they repeat 3rd Grade due to the Current Literacy Act IF he/she doesn’t have a “Just Cause” Exemption
  • Students who don’t meet the “Cut Score” in the Spring can test again during the Summer
  • If the “Cut Score” isn’t met during the Summer the student will repeat 3rd Grade

WHAT IS “JUST CAUSE EXEMPTION?”

  • Special Education Students
  • EL (English Language Learner) Students who have been in the program for less than 3 years
