CLUB MANAGED ACTIVITY: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Club managed activity includes anything organised by the club for its members, or anything taking place in the club's name.

Examples include: training, competitions and fixtures, club social activity, trips, charity events etc

Key Responsibilities

  • Sport & Recreation is responsible for overseeing all club managed activity.
  • All activity must be approved and booked by Sport & Recreation in advance.
  • Activity cannot take place in unapproved locations (e.g. off-campus spaces such as Southsea Common), as these activities are not covered unless approved through the correct processes.
  • Your Club Development Plan outlines the activity that has been approved for your club.
  • You must complete the relevant forms to provide more details for club events, non bucs competitions, friendly and development fixtures (and trips for those clubs who have these approved)

Unsure? Ask First - thinking of doing something new or different? Speak to your Club Staff Contact before making any plans. We can help ensure the activity is approved, safe, insured and fully supported!

  • A community (Team UOP) who trust and respect you

Abuse of power – a situation where a leader exploits a position of power in relation to a student so as to apply pressure in a way which:

Expectations from the University, as someone in a Position of Trust:

  • Follow all policies and procedures relating to your role
  • Behave in a way that doesn’t bring the University into disrepute, avoiding any behaviour that manipulates your position or that could exploit or harm students
  • Share information with Sport and Recreation (and the wider University) relating to wellbeing concerns for students, students showing inappropriate behaviour and misconduct, sports club cultures and other sports workforce members showing inappropriate behaviour
  • Create environments where students can thrive under your leadership
