Monroe Students need to be independent thinkers, learners, and problem solvers. To support students in developing their independence, teachers are consistently implementing the following academic techniques: The Gradual Release Model, Annotation and Productive Struggle.

  1. Graduation and Post-Secondary Readiness

Expose students to various post-graduate opportunities, including field trips to local colleges and industry.

  1. Parent and Monroe Family Engagement

We advocate regular parent communication, and monitor the progress through the RCSD’s PowerSchool Student Management System on Attend Actions.

Family Newsletters, Interim reports, host Open House and Parent Teacher weekend breakfasts, and send home Shine Bright post cards.

Our goal is to make Demonstrable Improvement. Productive Struggle, Annotation, Gradual release so that all students are truly engaged in the learning process.

Overview: Each student is assigned to a Youth Advocate that provides ongoing mentoring services. Students participate in social and life skill-building enrichments during lunch periods or after school. Career tours, college tours, and academic support are made available throughout the year. Students who meet “AAA” standards (Academics, Attendance, Attitude), can be referred to our Youth Employment Training Academy and receive their certification upon completion. Students have the opportunity to join affinity groups, focused on our young men, young women, and arts, that facilitate events for students throughout the year. We are currently recruiting students grades 9th-10th.
