What is Inclusive Education?

At Tamaoho School ALL learners are welcome. Our learners will be engaged in the learning process. They will achieve through being present, by participating, by building relationships and by developing a sense belonging. Our number one priority is to ensure our learners feel safe, secure and happy.

We will harness collective knowledge to adapt the curriculum in a personalised way, remove any barriers and work with multiple agencies to develop detailed individual learning plans where specific learning needs have been identified. Clear goals will be set and monitored by the learning support team.

We will adapt our learning spaces and utilise our break out spaces to create individual flexible areas to meet a wide variety of needs.

“Learning support refers to the additional support some learners and young people need to engage and achieve in education.” (Education Govt)

How does it work?

Our Learning Support Coordinator (SENCO) will work closely with teachers and whaanau to ensure all additional learning and behaviour needs are discussed openly and are supported through a range of programmes and plans.

All learners with identified learning support needs will have a personalised transition plan into school, through school and out of our school.

All learners needs are discussed in teams to ensure the correct support strategies are put into place.

Please let us know if your child has been identified with additional learning or behaviour needs upon enrolment so we can fully support and set your child up for success.
