DUNE: IMPERIUMLEADER BOOSTER PACK

8 new leaders for Dune: Imperium (base game – no expansions):House Corrino, House Fenring and one operative for each faction.

Disclaimer: Balance was theorycrafted on Reddit & BGG, then tested in solo play 2 games each:(Margot and Hasimir Fenring were both slightly buffed then re-tested after their solo games).Multiplayer testing (april 2026) went very well, but we could only manage three 4-player games.

Notes on design:Replayability: These 8 leaders were added to increase variety, while letting players explore the existing mechanics of D:I.Simple: The rules are meant to be simple - No cards, counters, tokens, tracks or excessive ammounts of text.Balance: The new leaders are intended to be in A- or B-tier. Buffs to Paul, Ariana and Memnon level the playing field.Swordmaster: The new leaders maintain the Swordmaster dynamic of the base game: Irulan can ”snipe” Swordmaster from first position (like Rabban and Memnon), while Chani and Otto can avoid the Swordmaster bottleneck just like Helena can.

We also use two house rules:

  1. Conspire is a Conflict SpaceThis makes Conspire a more viable board space, and it means that Heighliner (table position) is marginally less important for the final Conflicts.
  2. Overpay by 2 (or 4) PersuasionWhen you buy Imperium Row cards, you may overpay by 2 to either Trash a Starting Deck card or to put the acquired card on top of your deck. This makes cheap/(”bad”) cards more viable, which in turn organically keeps the Imperium Row from getting clogged. This makes High Council are more viable alternative to Swordmaster. The rule replaces Family Atomics (which tends to ”nuke” the meaningfulness of decisions based on the current Row).
