TIPS FROM A LOCAL SCOUT

Sell More, Perfect Your Sales Pitch

“Hello, My name is [Your First Name] from [Unit#] and I am selling popcorn to help fund my adventures in Scouting. Would you like to support me?”

  • Suggest your favorite flavor of popcorn

“My favorite flavor is Salted Caramel. Have you tried that flavor before?”

  • Always say thank you, even if the customer doesn’t buy popcorn.

Look Sharp, Be Prepared

  • Always wear your Class A field uniform
  • Make eye contact and speak clearly
  • Always say “Thank you.”
  • Download the app and login in advance
  • Ask every person at Storefront sales and knock on every door during wagon sales.

HOW TO USE CASH TO

CREDIT pt.1

  1. Tap the green button for the cash you want to convert. Cash from individual Scout sales will all be listed together. Cash from storefront sales will be grouped by storefront.

2. You can convert up to the maximum amount of cash owed.

a. The amount available to convert at any given time during a storefront will be all cash sales to that point that have not already been converted.

b. If you would like to convert less than the maximum amount, type in the amount you want to convert. A minimum of $20 is required.

c. Once the correct amount is entered, tap the ‘Convert’ button.

3. Verify the cash you are taking matches the amount that is being converted. Once you have counted the cash, select the checkbox and tap the ‘Continue to Payment’ button.

HOW TO USE CASH TO

CREDIT pt.2

4. Complete the payment with your credit card. You can use Tap to Pay, a Square reader, or through manual card entry.

5. Once payment is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message. You can then take the cash that you converted.

Timing

Storefronts: It is best practice to convert cash at the end of shift, however, parents do have until the end of the day (midnight local time).

Scout Sales: This can be done at any time during the season. Make sure all Cash to Credit transactions are complete by December 31st at 7pm ET.

RewardsWhen using Cash to Credit, Scouts will earn an additional 0.25 pts per dollar converted (on top of the 1 pt they earned for the cash sale).

For storefronts, rewards credit will be split between the Scouts working that storefront on that day. Which shift or which parent does the conversion is not taken into consideration.
