Please remember that Internet Safety Rules apply to all Devices that access the Internet including computers, laptops, tablets, iPads, iPods, cell phones, Kindles, game systems, etc.

Online Safety Rule #1

  • Never give out any personal information�(Your Name, Address, Phone Number, City, State, School or Team)�
  • Use a Screen Name or a Nickname instead�
  • Don’t put your personal information onto Online Forms.

Watch out for the danger of online strangers who try to gain your trust by pretending to be an online friend.

Online Safety Rule #3

Never meet an Internet Friend that you don’t know in the real world.

Online Safety Rule #4

Create safe web-pages, (Blogs and Facebook) that don’t list personal information or show Identifying photos.

  • Have your parents help you select the most strict settings possible!
  • Create minimal profiles
  • Use Avatars for pictures
  • Don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know in the real world!
  • It is okay to un-friend when people share inappropriate things.

Be Very Careful when Playing Online Games Where Chatting is Allowed.

(Club Penguin, etc.)

  • Remember, the friends that you make on these sites are still strangers.
  • Block all uncomfortable contacts!

Don’t Share Your Passwords with Anyone but Your Parents. Log off When You are finished.

Quickly turn off the Monitor, or close the Laptop, and go tell a Trusted Adult when anything Uncomfortable or Inappropriate happens. This includes Cyberbullying!!

Always Do a Safe Internet Search

  • Think before you type.
  • Use a specific phrase instead of a single word. Add “for kids” to the search.
  • Read link descriptions carefully before clicking.
  • Use Safe Search Settings and Engines!!
  • Ask an adult for help!!!

Don’t Click on Pop-ups or Ads and Don’t Fill Out Online Forms for Free Stuff, Games, or Purchases without Parent Permission!

Did you know that you can actually rewire and change your brain in negative ways by looking at bad pictures?

Looking over and over again, releases chemicals into your body that are as addictive and dangerous as those found in bad drugs!

Here is what to do when you See a Bad Picture!

  1. Quickly say,

“That is a Bad or Poisonous Picture!!”

  1. Then Get Away From it as Quick as Possible! (Quit or Turn off the Monitor)

Next, Tell a Trusted Adult
