The Story Last Time
Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck have been captured by the Larkies.
The Larkies are having a cooking contest. The winner will be the queen of the Larkies.
One Larkie wants to cheat. She gets Uncle Scrooge to promise to declare her the winner, and in return, she will help Uncle Scrooge escape.
Hee! Hee! Hee! I’ll tell you how you can by-pass the sleepless dragon and make off with the Golden Fleece!
Hee! Hee! Hee!
Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Donald, we’ve got it made!
Soon Uncle Scrooge and Donald are taken to the hall of the Larkies for the food-tasting ceremony!
Great Caesar, Donald! Smell the awful odors coming from those dishes!
They sure haven’t been cooking cinnamon rolls!
Are we ready, girls?
Yes! On with the show!
Try my recipe first, Mr. McDuck! I’m Larkie Fay!
What did you cook?
Curried rhubarb pulp with curdled milkweed sauce!
Shudder!
Well, it could be worse! It could be parsnips!
I’m sure he’ll love my sulphured sauerbraten with vinegar gravy!
No! Bessie! He’ll love my birdseed biscuits more!
I’m Inez! And this is my famous recipe--tossed tumbleweed salad with cod liver oil dressing!
Luckily, Uncle Scrooge only has to taste these dishes. But now comes the recipe of Larkie Agnes!
You remember our little deal, don’t you, Mr McDuck?

So Agnes becomes queen of the Larkies, and the prisoners receive their freedom!

What about the directions for getting the Golden Fleece?
They’re simple! Just go to the west base of the palace hill!
There’s a drain tunnel there through which you can crawl beneath the dragon’s station, straight to the open end of the Hall of Echoes!
And the Golden Fleece--is it in the hall?
Yes! At the inner end, where the boomerang stone reverses the echoes!
Now, hurry before my sisters get over their grouch!
Boy! That parsnip pudding was ghastly!
But getting the Golden Fleece is going to square things nicely!
Oh, me! Oh, my! My sisters are going to be awfully mad at me for letting old McDuck escape!
They won’t speak to me for years!
I’ll be the loneliest queen that ever lived!
(Oh, sob! Sob!) I wish there were some way I could undo the damage! Oh! Sob! Sob!
I know! I’ve thought of a special trick that will make a heroine of me and a sitting duck of McDuck! Hee! Hee! Hee!
Psst! Wait, men! There’s another secret I forgot to tell you about the hall of echoes!
It’s very dark and winding in there!
You can only find your way to the Fleece by shouting and listening for the return of the echo!
I get it! We go toward the echoes going in, and go from the echoes going out!
Yes! And the word you shout is “Seikral”! Shout it over and over!
Seikral! Gee! Thanks, Agnes! Thanks a million!

I’ve as good as got that golden coat on my back right now!
I’ll have it fitted with diamond buttons!
I hope this cushy deal isn’t a trap!
Aw, don’t be such a kill-joy! Agnes wouldn’t break her word! Now, would she?

The drain comes up in a roofless courtyard far inside the ruins!
Ye cats! Hallways in every direction!
The only way to tell which is the right one is to test them all for echoes!
