Literature Units

  • The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

S.E. Hinton is a coming-of-age novel that follows Ponyboy Curtis, a teenager caught between rival gangs, as he struggles with identity, loyalty, and loss. The story explores the impact of social class and the power of Friendship.

  • Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson

A memoir in verse that recounts the author’s childhood as an African American girl growing up in the 1960s and '70s, navigating identity, racism, and her emerging love for writing.

  • The Giver by Lois Lowry

A thought-provoking novel set in a seemingly perfect society where a young boy named Jonas is given a special role that changes how he sees his world. As he begins his training, he uncovers unsettling truths beneath the community’s calm surface.

Jr. High Grading Policy

Our Lady of Grace uses Standards Referenced Grading, which allows you to clearly track your progress toward each particular learning target.

We will be using Proficiency Scales to track your progress on assignments and assessments.

Academic Dishonesty

Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Cheating, copying, and plagiarizing will be met with parent contact and disciplinary action.
