Year-End Assessment Considerations

Year-End Reading and Math Update

  • Annual FY26 Progress/Growth
  • FY26 Year-End Student Achievement
  • Examine both MAP (reading/math0 and iReady (math)

Norm-Referenced and Criterion-Referenced Assessments

Norm-Referenced

  • MAP and iReady Math
  • Comparison to performance of similar students nationally
  • Norms typically “updated” approximately every 5 years

Criterion Referenced

  • iReady Math
  • Measures performance against fixed set of standards/learning outcomes rather than comparison to other individuals

Year-End Assessment Considerations

New 2025 MAP Norms

  • Norm-Referenced
  • compare students to performance of similar students nationally

    • Downward shift in student achievement compared to 2020 norms
    • Generally, the “typical” grade level RIT score decreased
      • 2020 Norms - RIT score = 60th %ile; 2025 norms - Same RIT = 70th %ile
      • EISA (Enhanced Item Selection Algorithm) resulted in increased growth, particularly in math

iReady Norms

  • Last major update to i-Ready national norms occurred in FY25 school year.
  • Norms based on student assessment data collected during 23-24 school year.
