Connection and Wellness: Growing & Recovering in a pst COVID world

  • When students test positive or are close contacts for COVID today the quarantine process restricts them to their room for about a week
    • For many students the loneliness of isolation, the sickness from COVID, and the pressure from missing classes begins to build up and the student must contend with any symptoms from COVID as well as the additional mental fatigue
    • Student organizations on campus on campus have mobilized to coordinate food deliveries, mask deliveries, and other services to minimize these pressures with varying degrees of success
  • Okapi Papi’s app seeks to alleviate the additional stress from COVID isolation by centralizing and streamlining campus resources and providing a holistic wellness platform

Expansion Opportunities

  • Cockroach DB: would use this database to store information about mood tracker and symptom tracker throughout a students quarantine. This information could be accessed by medical personal as well to help with care
  • Twilio: Implement twilio to run notifications for the symptom / mood tracker and meal delivery incorporating text alerts

Accessibility

Adaptability

Domain.com

  • App is designed with accessibility in mind so all buttons, labels, text boxes are designed for screen readers and other accessibility functions. The app itself is meant to increase accessibility of campus resources for individuals in quarantine.
  • App is modified to specifically serve the Wellesley community, but functionality can be easily adapted to serve other Universities
  • We used the domain okapipapi.tech for this project with the vision of web development for further development opportunities
