Offshore Wind: Economic Development

10

As part of the VCEA (Virginia Clean Economy Act), there are legislated requirements that the Company must demonstrate have been met. Those requirements include:

  • Demonstration of the economic benefits to Virginia, including investment and job creation

  • Prioritization of hiring veterans transitioning out of military service and workers from local and historically economic disadvantaged communities in Virginia. Keep in mind, the HR Region transitions over 8,000 well trained service members into the private sector every year. These men and women have skills in maritime operations, working with heavy equipment and high-tech systems.

It is critical that suppliers recognize these requirements and incorporate them into their plans to deliver the services and equipment for all phases of CVOW. To that end, the Company will require all suppliers to collect and report on their engagement and utilization with Virginia companies and workers.

Project Construction local economic activity to date:

      • 17 Virginia based contracts
      • 40 Virginia based personnel
      • $15M Virginia spend to date
