IMPORTANT INFORMATION

If you are in a sport, you can still join JYMS Clubs!

Your club advisor can email your coach to excuse you from a practice in order to attend a club meeting. Please politely tell/email your coach several days ahead of time and then ask the advisor to send an email confirming you attended the meeting.

*Student council meetings will be held every other Thursday after school in either room 101 or 318

*The weeks we are not meeting after school there will be grade level meetings during lunch (6th grade with Mrs. Slater in room 318, 7th and 8th grade with Mr. Hendler in room 101)

Student Council Roles

This year student council will be made up of a team of officers, senators, and representatives.

Officers

  • President (8th grade)
  • Vice President (7th grade)
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

Each of these roles is integral to the success of our student council. Contact us if you want more specific information regarding responsibilities for each role

Grade Level Reps

  • 2 from 6th grade
  • 2 from 7th grade
  • 2 from 8th grade

Student representatives attend both general student council meetings and other meetings. These are the students who are responsible for debating proposals and voting whether to pursue them or not.

Volunteers

  • Any student from any grade level who is interested in participating

Student representatives are tasked with being the voice of their grade level. They listen to their peers and bring issues and proposals to general student council meetings. They are advocates for all students.

*A meeting will be held after school on Thursday September 11th in Rm. 318 for students who are interested and want to learn more!

GRADE 6 - Intramural Volleyball

  • Open to all girls in grade 6
  • 10 Practices in the spring: skills, drills, and scrimmages
  • Our goals: build basic volleyball skills, develop new friendships, have fun!

There will be more information in the spring about how to sign up.

Join Forensics!

Choose a category, pick a piece you like, and practice until you are performance ready. We attend 3 meets on Saturdays in January and February. And, also there are donuts!

Art Club

Meets Tuesdays 3:30-4:45 in the Art room

  • Learn about different art techniques not learned in class.
  • Hone skills in mediums that you would want/need to learn.
  • Have an art show in March (and others tbd)!
  • Create club T-shirts at the end of the school year!

  • Fill out this Google Form. (There may be a waiting list for this year depending on how many students sign up). Club space is limited.
  • Last day to sign up is Monday, September 22nd.
  • You will receive an email confirmation with a copy of the Art Club Permission Slip if there is room or will need to receive a form from me.
  • First meeting will be Tuesday, September 30th.

Computer Club

Advisor: Mr. Pullen

Interested in computers, coding, hacking or gaming? Computer Club wants you!

This year, JYMS students can participate in CyberPatriot through Computer Club. JYMS CyberPatriot competitive cyber-security teams explore how hackers compromise computer and network security and learn how to defend against those threats. Dive deep into how computers and networks work. Compete against hundreds of teams from around the country.

  • Meets once a month after school between 3:30 pm to 5:30pm at the BHS Residential Kitchen.
  • We will learn a new recipe each month.
  • During our first meeting we will discuss what cooking club looks like and kitchen safety.
