Woodmore K-8 NewsSeptember 17, 2024

  • We are working on finishing up our beginning of the year NWEA MAPS tests. These can be a bit of an overwhelming task, but the students are doing amazing and are remaining resilient with working through them!
  • The students are also working hard at modeling their ROAR expectations in the Hallway, Lunchroom and Bathrooms. There are still reminders needed here and there, but overall, they are starting to get the hang of it.
  • They are really enjoying the REWARD BOARD where each class gets to compete to see who can get to the finish line first for the end of month reward. It’s definitely an exciting time!
  • The Masked Reader has been a HUGE hit! Students are enjoying the story and having a great time of guessing who is behind the mask. Hopefully families are enjoying the fun too!

Elementary School Updates

  • NWEA MAPS tests are wrapping up. We plan to have the results available to students and parents once testing has finished.
  • Students are doing a great job with their ROAR expectations that are reinforced in the daily morning announcements. “Joke of the Day” and “Lunch Trivia” has proven to be a hit as we start the school year off!
  • Our PBIS word of the month for September is “Respect.” We will be rolling out our PBIS model in October. This will involve bi-weekly rewards, monthly drawings, and quarterly rewards. Eligibility for these will require students to abide by the ROAR expectations.
  • Thank you for all of your support at the start of the 2024-2025 school year!

Middle School Happenings

We are off to a busy start this school year! It has been great seeing everyone back and getting to know our new students. This month, all students are learning about the Wildcat Word of the Month, Respect. Throughout the building and during counseling lessons, students are discussing and practicing what it means to be respectful to others in classrooms, the cafeteria, recess, and more. I am visiting our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes to introduce myself and talk about the role of a School Counselor while our 2nd-4th graders received a virtual "refresher" about my job here at school. Please keep an eye out for a "Parent & Family" Informative Video regarding my role and the School Counseling program-coming soon!
