Daily Take-Home Folder

  • Your child will bring home their take home folder each night. The right side is for items to return to school. The left side will be for items that you can keep. Please take a moment each night to go through your child’s folder. Please return it to school with your child daily. This is used for lunch money, transportation changes, etc. It is also used for completed work, incomplete work that will need to be completed or homework.

  • Please have your child pack the folder him/herself. This will help instill responsibility.

Performance Based Grading

4: Congratulations!

You’re riding your

bike and popping a

wheelie all by

yourself!

3: You’re successfully

riding a bike by

yourself, but you

haven’t quite mastered

the complex wheelie.

2: You’re peddling

well and making

progress as long

as I’m holding on

and giving you a

little support.

1: You’re trying to get

on the bike but you

keep falling down

and can’t stay on.

Behavior Management

Golden Tickets:

    • Every day, students will have an opportunity to earn gold tickets for displaying positive behavior and making great choices throughout the day.

    • These golden tickets will be an incentive towards our Fun Friday centers.

    • You will receive a weekly report, highlighting your child’s behavior and possibly suggestions on things to discuss/work on.

Behavior Management

Handling misbehaviors:

  • We all make mistakes, and we have the opportunity to learn from them. When inappropriate behaviors occur in the classroom, I will have a conversation with the child(ren) involved and together we’ll come up with an appropriate plan.  In some circumstances, students will complete a Think Sheet to help him/her process his/her actions.  If one comes home, please discuss, sign, and return so that I know you’re aware of the situation.

  • If misbehavior becomes a pattern with your child, I’ll visit with you individually about the need for daily communication regarding behavior goals.

Daily Review

  • Let’s keep it short and sweet! They have been working hard at school all day!

  • Review and practice our letter/sounds and handwriting of the letters we have been learning.

  • Read a book to your child every night.

Other Info:

  • Students will need to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name - it will go home each night to be cleaned. They will be able to refill the water bottle at our classroom sink or at our water refill stations.

  • Snack – your child may bring a quick, peanut free, snack each day. It’s a long day, they do get hungry!

  • Please keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills happen. The nurse does not keep many extra clothes.
