What is the ICAP?

    • A personalized plan developed with the support of teachers and counselors to help students explore career and educational goals.

    • To ensure that every student is prepared for the next step, no matter their path (college, military, trades, or entering the workforce).

Career clusters organize careers within each career path into 16 more specific groupings, based on common knowledge and skills. Each cluster includes a wide variety of occupations and helps students focus on a particular industry. Examples of career clusters include:

Career Pathways

Career pathways break down the clusters into even more detailed groups of occupations. Each pathway focuses on specific skills, knowledge, and training required for certain careers. For example, in the Health Science cluster, pathways might include:

Therapeutic Services: Occupations that focus on changing the health status of patients over time (e.g., nursing, physical therapy)

Diagnostic Services: Jobs that involve diagnosing and assessing patients (e.g., radiologic technologist, lab technician)

Health Informatics: Careers that focus on managing patient information and medical records (e.g., health information technician)
