Local Homelessness

Stats as according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness:

  • 1,973 people are homeless on any given night in Kansas City.
  • From 2007 to 2020 the unsheltered population in Missouri has risen by 48 percent.
  • The Veteran homeless population has also risen by 9 percent.
  • Keep in mind this is even before the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have discussed this topic and we think that the organization, A Gathering of Friends (formerly Free Hot Soup) is an excellent organization that supports our cause and can help us get our service project off the ground.

Connections

Charity Church - Kansas City, MO

  • We can partner with the Charity Church to help collect donations of used or new candles and cans in general.

  • Church-goers will also have to chance to volunteer their time to help either hand out or construct the candles.

  • A Gathering of Friends, formerly Free Hot Soup.

Kansas City Public Schools

  • The schools have clubs such as Interact, Rotary, and Student Councils that want to get involved and this way the students can get their hours and we can gain donations and workers.

  • The students have a chance to get involved in the city and with the people around them. We will also be having a spirit week to help gain more donations.

Connect with us!!

Facebook

  • This app would allow the people that do not have the more recently released social media to still be aware about our cause and what we are all about.
  • When a person likes a fundraiser or business it is shared by Facebook to the person’s friends, allowing even more awareness spread.

Instagram

  • Instagram is a big asset for small businesses and fundraisers alike. Many of them have grown exponentially through this platform.
  • Instagram makes it very simple to share posts either to close friends or your story in general. Once again, even more awareness.

TikTok

  • This platform is current on trends and is a great way to make the younger people more excited for this opportunity. TikTok has the unique ability to create a base of people to get involved.
  • TikTok has an algorithm built into the app that shows people videos that, statistically, they would enjoy and interact with. Allowing for people with servant souls to gather and make a difference.
