  • Postop evaluation is a critical part of the care of surgical patient.
  • it serves to ensure that patient are recovering as expected and identify any potential complication on time.
  • This research was done to, identify PACU clinical risks and address them before discharge.

​

  • Throughout time in pacu some patient with medium and high risk rarely receive direct intervention.
  • In some of the patients, Pain was treated subjectively.
  • Pain management is delayed and occassionally dismissed.
  • In some of the patients temperature was not taken.

RECOMMENDATION�

  • Patients with medium to high risk should receive direct intervention until they achieved a score as earlier shown in the scoring chart.
  • Pain should not be treated subjectively and should be assessed frequently.
  • Pain should be treated promptly.
  • All critical vitals should be taken interpreted and action taken promptly.
  • Staff working in pacu should be made familiar with the scoring tool.
  • When handing over the patient score should be included.
  • Good team work among the surgical team in the management of postop patients.
  • Consistency when taking care of the patients.
