VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIAL: KARLA
I have been a volunteer at Hospice of the Valley’s Hispanic Program since July 2023, which is an outreach program matching Spanish-speaking volunteers with patients from Latino/Hispanic backgrounds. I provide respite care, which is a service that provides temporary relief for caregivers.
I’ve been with my patient for about 6 months. It has been a beautiful bonding experience with both the patient and the patient’s family. .
IMPORTANCE OF VOLUNTEERISM
Your volunteer work is a great way to demonstrate to medical schools that you have the qualities they search for in their students, such as leadership abilities, compassion, empathy, and dedication.
Volunteer work also demonstrates your commitment to helping others.
