Learning Objective: Produce an ‘Under the Sea’-inspired mood board/Title page. Include a range of inspiration sources; nature, fashion, artefacts etc. Stick down textures and fabrics, feel free to sketch the patterns and textures you see.

  • Brief background information on the designer
  • Highlight 3 or 4 key looks
  • What is the inspiration? How did these influence the shape of the garments? How did they influence the pattern and colours used? What methods were used to achieve the look? Fabric and component choices?
  • Use a mixture of text and images
  • Task Designer inspired page. Look in detail at the colours, patterns and textures found on your moodboard and in the designers collection. Fill a page with information and images to inspire your own designs.

Questions to ask yourself when researching an Artist or Designer

  • What inspired the designers work? A theme, something specific?
  • How did this influence inspire their work; the shape of a garments, the texture achieved, details included?
  • How did it influence the pattern and colours choices they made?
  • What methods were used to achieve the look? Fabric and component choices?
  • What is successful? What has not been successful?
  • How has their work developed over time? More complex, simpler, change of focus, technique?
  • What aspects of their work interests you or will inspire your own work? What will you steal?!

AO3- Record Observational Studies… Photography

When we return to school in September we will be starting with AO3-Record. This is using a range of media- Pencil, pen, water colour, gouache paints, pastels, coloured pencils etc….. Also photography.

​

The really make a good start on this, if you are visiting the sea or an aquarium over the summer break please take lots of photos of the sea, sand, shells, sea life.
