  • History of Konyaalti Beach�Konyaaltı beach was used as an important settlement during the Ancient Roman Period.
  • is also located at a very important point in terms of the history of the city.
  • There are hundreds of important historical art and historical sites from the Roman period in Antalya. Aspendos theatre and Perge Ancient City are important ones. Some historical artefacts are exhibited in the Antalya Museum in Konyaaltı district.

  • Konyaalti Beach during the Ottoman Period�Konyaaltı Beach was also used as an important settlement during the Ottoman period.
  • After the Ottoman Empire conquered Antalya, the region came under Ottoman rule.

Today Konyaalti Beach

  • Today, Konyaalti Beach is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Antalya.
  • A green area has been created immediately next to Konyaaltı beach and this green area is almost extending approximately 13 km along with the beach
  • The water is beautifully clear. Konyaaltı Beach has "Blue Flag" status, which confirms the good water quality.
  • While the beach attracts attention with its long sandy beach and crystal clear sea, the ruins of the ancient theater right next to it are also very important in terms of history.

  • Konyaalti beach is the world famous and the longest and most preferred beach in Antalya. Because it is very close to the city centre and is very easy to reach.

Lara Beach and �Green Area

  • Lara Beach, together with Konyaaltı Beach, is one of the two important beaches of Antalya. Lara Beach is one of the longest sand beaches and popular beach holiday destination with Blue Flag in Antalya and Turkiye.
  • Lara Bay is a protected area because every year hundreds of Green and Loggerhead Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.These turtles are endangered and the nests are covered with protective cages to stop foxes predating them.The team that  run the conservation programme rescue the weaker hatchlings and keep them in the Information Centre until they are strong enough to be released.

Lara Beach in the Roman and Byzantine time

  • The city of Antalya, also known as Attaleia or Attalia, was founded around 150 BCE by the Greek King Attalus II of Pergamon.
  • Eventually, it became part of the Roman Empire and later the Byzantine Empire. During these eras, the region experienced significant growth, and various structures and monuments were built, including the famous Hadrian’s Gate and the ancient city of Aspendos.
  • These landmarks are a testament to the architectural prowess and cultural achievements of these civilizations.

CONCLUSION

  • Konyaaltı and Lara Beaches and Green Areas are special areas where people swim, relax and have picnics.
  • Lara Beach is also under special protection because it is the beach where sea turtles lay their eggs. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality takes special care for the protection of both beaches.
  • Konyaalti and Lara beaches and green areas are good green practices for the whole Europe.
