A Step by Step Guide to Creating a Works Cited Slide

  • Put the words Works Cited on the title line of the slide.
  • Copy & paste all your citations into the body of the slide.
    • To get citations from ebooks & databases, go to the Tools menu in the upper right corner, then click Citation Tools, then copy & paste the citation.
    • To get citations from websites, use easybib.com. Follow the prompts on the screen. Make sure to fill in all the orange boxes so your citation will be complete.

3. Put your citations in ABC (alphabetical) order by author’s last name (or title if there is no author listed).

4. Format your citations. Times New Roman 12 is the MLA standard for a document, but for a slide, you may want a bigger font.

5. Indent your citations properly. The first line of each citation goes on the left margin; subsequent lines of the same citation are indented. (This is called a hanging indent. Watch this video tutorial for how to do this in Google Docs.)
