Communications Advisory Committee�

    • Supports the websites (main and service), newsletter, communications emails, speaker recordings, YouTube channel, delegate packet, and the conference report.
    • Reminder – It is the responsibility of all members to ensure the meeting list and information is up-to-date. Provide updates at CMA Meeting Updates.
    • 365 speaker recordings on SoundCloud public channel (97 added in 2024)
    • CMA Service Classifieds provides ways to be of service: CMA Service Classifieds
    • 400 people visit the CMA main site daily (improvements were presented)
    • History of CMA app provided with update on current features (Android in testing)

Diversity, Equity and �Inclusion Advisory Committee

    • A history of DEI in CMA and a mission statement was reviewed with attendees
    • Committee requested information on resources that would be helpful to local groups. Responses were presented (several were related to accessibility).
    • Committee also asked for stories of success/failures to DEI at local level. Responses were presented.
    • DEI Pamphlet is finished and now being reviewed by the LAC.
    • A possible DEI survey will be discussed and developed in 2025.
    • Inclusivity statements and other resources now available at:
    • DEI Primer Workshops in 2024: “How to Start an Identity-Based Meeting,” “Accessibility,” “Service 101,” and “Attraction, not Promotion.”
      • A new workshop in March 2025 will be “Is DEI an Outside Issue?”
    • The DEI Committee meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at 6pm PST

Finance Advisory Committee

    • The balance sheet for CMA is healthy.
      • CMA currently had $111,000 in the bank with a prudent reserve of $61,111 (as of 09/28/24)
      • Expenses include the annual conference, legal, technology (website and app), books
    • 7th tradition down – call out to fellowship to support CMA General Services
      • Suggested Group Contributions: 50% District; 30% Area; 20% GSO
    • Continuing to explore revenue-generating opportunities, including increased merchandise offerings.
      • New merchandise presented: new chips and the new meeting starter chip set
    • Townhall Topics in 2025:
      • “How and Why of 7th Tradition,” “What Does Your Dollar Pay For?” “How are the Funds Used?”

Hospitals & Institutions �Advisory Committee

    • H&I Townhall Orientation was held in March 2024, and there will be plans to hold another in 2025 titled “How to Break Into Jail.” (stay tuned!)
    • Books have been sent to inmates and libraries in 35 states as well as the Canadian province of Ontario. Goal to have in every state by the end of 2025.
    • Pen Pal program continues to connect inmates seeking support.
      • If interested in signing up to be a Pen Pal: Pen Pall Sign-Up Form
    • Working on a ‘sponsorship by mail’ project for those that are confined.
    • The Spanish language version of “A Sober Cell” is with LAC and under review.
    • Contracted with a company that provides literature to prisons, which will allow CMA H&I to provide literature to inmates via their tablets.

International Committee

    • Report from International Delegates:
      • CMA in Australia turns 20 on Aug 16, 2025. Working to increase participation in Sydney and other major cities.
      • Eastern Canada – Increase in H&I. French-speaking meetings outnumber English-speaking
      • Western Canada – Now have meetings in four main provinces. Second annual convention held in Alberta. CMA has been in Canada for 20 years now as well.
      • CMA will be 12 in the UK in March 2025. 24 meetings and attendance is increasing. Call to the fellowship to join UK online meetings.
    • Roadmap created for a future worldwide service structure.
    • Looking at solutions to declining meeting attendance around the world (possible collaboration with PI&O)
    • Created a draft of the “New Country Welcome Letter” to be included in a planned outreach packet.
    • Discussions are ongoing for an International Conference…potentially in next 5 years.

Literature Advisory Committee

    • Currently in print - “Crystal Clear,” “Voices of the Fellowship: Our Recovery,” “Voices of the Fellowship: Sober Cell”
    • Working projects – “Daily Meditation Reader,” “VOTF: Our Families,” “VOTF: Sex in Sobriety.”
    • Requesting personal story submissions on topics related to “On Mental Health,” “A Step at a Time,” “Prison & Legal Issues,” “Service of the Heart,” and submissions for a poetry anthology. LAC - Submit Your Story
    • Audio recordings of “What is CMA?” and “The Twelve Steps: A Plan of Action” were shared with the body as a response to increase accessibility.
    • Collaborating with Communications to create content for CMA newsletter
    • NYCMA unanimously voted to allow “12 Steps of CMA” to be adopted by GSC (LAC is seeking feedback from the fellowship on this matter)
    • Two separate proposed changes to “Are You a Tweaker” approved by LAC and GSC in 2023. Both are available on the website in interim approval. (LAC is seeking feedback on changes)

Public Information & �Outreach Advisory Committee

    • The new water bottle label was presented and distributed to attendees. Link for the template can be found here: Water Bottle Label Template
    • The National CMA Helpline still needs support for one-hour volunteer shifts (helpline@cmagso.net)
      • We have 82 hours of the week covered, leaving 86 hours unavailable.
      • 2,648 calls attempted with 616 abandoned calls (abandon rate of 23%)
    • PiCo Workgroup presented the proposed Public Service Announcements and requested public comment (final version is now available on our website and YouTube channel).
    • Highlights from the 2023-24 CMA Fellowship Survey were presented in a tri-fold pamphlet
      • A more comprehensive analysis was provided at a Town Hall on Feb 1, 2025 (CMA Fellowship Survey)
    • Professionals & Underserved Workgroup has now sent out 423 e-letters and 104 postal letters introducing CMA to colleges, treatment facilities, institutions, etc.
    • Goals for 2025 – Updating resource tools for local fellowships, initiate a project for building CMA in underserved areas, identify opportunity areas for future work based on survey results, collaborate with other committees (Communications, DEI, H&I, and International) to help carry the message to addicts still suffering.
