INTRODUCTION

  • The response of a circuit (containing resistances, inductances, capacitors and switches) due to sudden application of voltage or current is called transient response.
  • Transients occur in the response due to sudden change in the sources that are applied to the electric circuit and / or due to switching action.

INTRODUCTION

  • There are two possible switching actions. Those are opening switch and closing switch.
  • The transient part will not present in the response of an electrical circuit or network, if it contains only resistances.
  • The transient part occurs in the response of an electrical circuit or network due to the presence of energy storing elements such as inductor and capacitor.
