Oregon has several lighthouses. Most lighthouses are on the coast. However the smallest lighthouse in Oregon is in the Columbia River. It is on Sauvie Island north of Portland. Its name is Warrior Rock Lighthouse.
The U.S. government built the lighthouse in 1889. It helps keep river ships safe. In the beginning, people had to light the light and ring the bell. Now the light and bell are automatic.
Visitors cannot go inside. However you can enjoy the hike to the lighthouse. You drive to the end of Northwest Reeder Road. Then you walk three miles through the forest to the beach. The hike is free. Parking costs $10 for one day or $30 for one year.
