Goals for Math LC

Our goal for this webinar series is to support your work to improve student learning and success in mathematics.

What we offer:

  • Proven methods and practices for student success based on other faculty experience with pedagogies, technologies, and strategies to meet your students’ needs.
  • Share Models for Flipped Classroom, Online Homework, Adaptive Learning, Supplemental Instruction, and other successful models.

  • Integration into Early Start Program began Summer 2017
  • Used in the following courses:
    • ESM 910 (for students that score 0-40 on the ELM placement exam) - 4-week course
    • ESM 920 (for students that score 41-48 on the ELM) - 2-week course
  • More than 600 students participated

School of Education used EdReady in support of primary and secondary mathematics teacher training.

  • Pilot programs conducted in 2016-17:
    • Single Subject Credential Program (EDSS 473)
    • CA CSET Secondary Math I and Math II Exam prep
  • Plans include:
    • Intersession math bootcamp in January
    • Corequisite support for credit bearing math classes

  • Piloted EdReady in Summer 2016 with EOP Summer Bridge (4 weeks) and Early Start Workshop (5 days)
  • Continued EdReady in Math 98 (Developmental Math 1) and Math 99 (Developmental Math 2)
  • Math 195 - (3 week GearUp partnership with local high school students) Pre-Calculus and SAT Prep
  • Continued use in Summer 2017 with EOP and Early Start, as well as continued us in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018.
  • Fall 2017 we collaborated with Alisal High School and supported EdReady for all their Math Faculty in Developmental Math & SAT preparation.

Implementing EdReady

  • EdReady was able to be integrated into our ilearn (Moodle)
    • Students did not have to create an account and were able to go directly from our CSUMB ilearn course to EdReady
  • Customized Content tailored to our Math 98 and 99 courses
  • Easy creation and organization of students in different course sections

Spring 2018

  • Continue use in Developmental Mathematics Classes

Summer 2018

  • GearUp High School Partnership
  • Gain Interest with High School Teachers and provide training in EdReady
    • Goal is to have EdReady implemented in more high schools as an extra resource to encourage college math readiness.
  • Early Start Workshop

Fall 2018 (implementation of E.O. 1110)

  • Four Co-Requisite Courses
    • Stat 100- Intro to Statistics
    • Math 100- Math for non-science majors
    • Math 115- Business Math
    • Math 130 -Precalculus
  • EdReady will serve a one component of the required course work.
  • Will be customized to the prior knowledge needed for each of the courses listed.
